About me and my therapy practice
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel daunting, and I aim to offer a calm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can begin to explore whatever is bringing you to therapy.
I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. I work in a relational, trauma-informed and integrative way, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and adapt my work to suit you as an individual. Our work together will move at a pace that feels right for you, focusing on the issues that matter most to you.
I have experience working within the NHS and Charity settings. I work with adults presenting with anxiety, low mood, trauma, identity and relationship difficulties, neurodivergence, and life transitions.
I have lived experience of neurodivergence and I am particularly interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals, those navigating complex emotional experiences, and people who may feel overwhelmed or “stuck” in patterns that are no longer serving.
Alongside my Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and a PGCE in Education. My previous work in education informs my therapeutic work, especially parents navigating the SEND system, as well as individuals lived experience of neurodivergence in education.
I believe therapy can offer the opportunity for deeper self-understanding, emotional regulation, and lasting change. I place great importance on building a trusting therapeutic relationship, as I believe this is central to effective and healing work.
Practice description
I offer a calm, supportive and confidential space where you can explore what is happening in your life, at a pace that feels right for you, where I aim to help you feel safe, heard and respected.
I work in a relational, trauma-informed and integrative way, adapting my approach to suit you as an individual. I support adults with anxiety, low mood, trauma, identity and relationship difficulties, neurodivergence, and life transitions.
I offer both short-term counselling (8-12 sessions) and longer-term therapy (12+ sessions).
Sessions are available in person in Morpeth at Oldgate Therapy Centre, with an option to continue online after an initial period of face-to-face work, where appropriate.
I place great importance on the therapeutic relationship and work collaboratively, with warmth, clarity and compassion.
My first session
The first session is a chance for us to start to get to know each other in a safe and supportive space.During this session, we will explore what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to achieve, and some aspects of your personal history. You share only what feels right for you, at a pace that feels manageable.
This session also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, and for us to discuss whether working together feels like a good fit for you.
We can talk about whether short or longer-term therapy may be most helpful for you, thinking about what you would like to gain from therapy. We can also consider any practical arrangements, eg weekly or fortnightly session times, that fit
By the end of this session, the aim is for you to feel clearer, supported, and understood as we consider next steps working together.
