I work Tuesday to Saturday and offer appointments during the daytime (including pre-0900 slots) and some evenings, so you can choose the right support for you.About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Caz. I am a Humanistic counsellor and I run a private practice offering in-person sessions with individual clients (18+) in Worthing and Littlehampton. I also offer telephone and online counselling.
I love what I do. It is meaningful and rewarding work to see someone become more compassionate to themselves and more connected to others.
Before becoming a counsellor, I held management roles in the corporate and public sectors. Those gave me some useful skills, and a strong focus on communication and connection that underpins my current work. I have a warm, professional approach; I take the commitment to confidentiality and respect very seriously and I want our working relationship to enable you to feel relaxed and safe enough to explore the full range of your experiences and emotions. Counselling is, of course, about exploring how you can respond to something difficult or painful, but it's ok for sessions to include laughter and lightness too - whatever part of your life and personality you want to express, I will listen carefully and compassionately.
Whether you are feeling challenged by a particular situation that is impacting your day-to-day life, a decision you're struggling to make or a more general sense that things are not as you want them to be, I believe that change comes through being given heard, understood and accepted. My role is to support you to slow down and explore what is happening in your life at a pace that feels right for you. I support you in finding ways to cope with whatever you are facing, without placing any expectation on you to change. I believe strongly that you can live an authentic, meaningful, connected life.
I have experience supporting adults of all ages with anxiety, low self-esteem, disappointment, living with chronic health conditions, work stress, relationship difficulties and loss. Whatever you wish to bring, we can explore it together.
Practice description
Weekly sessions:
Sessions take place at the same time and day each week; a consistent, predictable structure that means you know when we will meet and that you have time to process and reflect between sessions.
My approach:
Sessions are for you to talk about what is going on for you. There is no set agenda and there is no right or wrong way to 'do' counselling. We will work together, at your pace, to look at what you're thinking, feeling and believing about whatever is going on in your life, and about the kind of life you want to live.
Sometimes you will have a very clear idea of what to talk about, sometimes you won't know where to start and sometimes you might be unsure how to express something. Sessions are where you can begin to make sense of all these challenges and to understand yourself in a deeper way.
I won't diagnose or tell you what do do - you're not a problem to solve, you're a person that might be feeling uncertain or in distress - and only you will know what is right for you. I see my role as supporting you to explore your experiences, your patterns, and what might be getting in the way of your responding differently to life's challenges. For many people, it's about returning to who they used to be, for others, it's about making the choice to do and be something different.
If you'd like to know more about counselling in general and how I work in particular, feel free to get in touch.
Some practicalities:
My counselling room is based in Worthing, close to West Worthing station or at Dove Lodge Community Centre in Littlehampton. There is free, on street parking near both, as well as bus and train links within a ten minute walk.
Session fees:
I charge £60 per 50-minute counselling session.
I recognise that costs can be a barrier to counselling. I offer a limited number of concessionary spaces for those on a low income and students. Please ask for availability.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute introductory call it you'd like to find out more. This is for you to share what you're hoping to gain from counselling and to ask me any questions you may have. There is no obligation to decide during the call if you want to book sessions, you can take your time to decide what feels right. If I feel a different type of support might be more suitable for you, I'll let you know with care and honesty.
If you do go on to book counselling with me, I will go through a longer assessment process with you in our first session and we will spend time talking about how we will work together, what your goals are and when and how we will review how the work is going. There will still be time in that first session for you to talk about your issues, and in all subsequent sessions, you decide what we talk about.
