Hello, I’m Shu. I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist offering a calm, supportive space to explore what feels important to you.
I offer both in-person and online sessions, with the flexibility to combine the two if that works best for you.
Online sessions take place via Microsoft Teams or Zoom. In-person appointments are available in Balham and Battersea, South West London, in quiet, private and comfortable therapy rooms.
I typically offer appointments Tuesday to Thursday between 09:30 and 15:00, with occasional availability on Mondays and Fridays. Availability can vary, so please feel free to get in touch to discuss current options. I aim to respond within 24 hours on business days.
Fees
Online sessions: £80
In-person sessions: £95
Sessions are 50 minutes, with payment due in advance or on the day of your appointment.
I aim to make therapy as accessible as possible and can sometimes offer flexible payment arrangements. Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss options such as monthly plans or block invoicing.
About me and my therapy practice
I work with people who have spent much of their lives showing up for others. You're thoughtful, capable and committed, often carrying responsibility and meeting expectations. You may be used to putting others first, but perhaps you're beginning to wonder what it might mean to offer that same care to yourself.
You might find yourself overthinking, questioning your decisions or struggling to set boundaries. Or perhaps life looks fine on the outside, but something doesn't feel quite right. Whether you're navigating a particular challenge, adjusting to changes in your life or simply feeling curious about yourself and what you want, therapy offers an opportunity to pause and explore. I support adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, workplace stress and burnout, as well as questions around cultural identity and belonging.
I'm an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist offering a warm, thoughtful and collaborative approach. Our sessions are guided by what matters to you. I'll listen, ask questions and offer reflections, helping us make sense of your experiences together.
I believe that feeling genuinely heard, understood and accepted can create the space to explore difficult feelings, recognise familiar patterns and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. Together, we can consider how your past experiences, relationships, family and cultural influences may shape how you see yourself and navigate life today, helping you reconnect with what matters to you and make choices that feel more aligned with the life you want to live.
Practice description
My approach brings together person-centred and psychodynamic therapy, with the relationship between us at the heart of our work. So what does that actually mean?
The person-centred part of my approach means that therapy is a collaborative process, guided by you and what feels important to explore. I'll listen carefully, but I'll also ask questions, offer reflections and gently draw attention to things we might explore further. I won't arrive with a set of answers or assumptions about what's right for you. There's room for all aspects of your experience, including difficult emotions, conflicting feelings and moments of humour.
My psychodynamic approach brings curiosity about how earlier experiences, relationships and expectations may influence the way we think, feel and relate to others today. We might notice recurring patterns or consider how past experiences connect with what's happening in your life now.
I recognise that we're all shaped by the world around us. Family, relationships, culture, faith, sexuality, social background and wider expectations can all influence how we see ourselves and navigate life. All parts of you are welcome in our conversations.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over 20 years working in the corporate sector, primarily in HR. This gives me a strong understanding of workplace relationships, professional pressures and burnout, as well as the challenges of maternity leave, returning to work, and encountering the glass ceiling. I recognise how our sense of identity and self-worth can become closely connected to our working lives.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute online consultation as a first step into therapy. It's an opportunity for us to meet, talk a little about what you're looking for and see whether working together feels right. You're welcome to ask any questions, whether about how therapy works or what you might expect from our sessions.
If we decide to continue, sessions are 50 minutes and take place weekly.
Our first full session will be a little different from those that follow. We'll go through some practical aspects of working together, including confidentiality, boundaries and any questions you may have. We'll also begin exploring what has brought you to therapy and what you're hoping to gain from it.
We may touch on your background, relationships or current circumstances, but there's no expectation to share anything you're not ready to. We'll take things at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
If you would like to learn more or book a consultation, please contact me or visit my website for further information.
