Hello, I’m Shu. I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist offering a calm, supportive space to explore what feels important to you.
I offer both in-person and online sessions, so we can find an arrangement that feels comfortable and manageable for you. Some clients also choose a combination of both, depending on what suits them at different times.
Online sessions take place via Microsoft Teams or Zoom. In-person sessions are held in Balham and Battersea, South West London, in quiet, private spaces designed to help you feel at ease.
I typically offer sessions Tuesday to Thursday between 09:30 and 15:00, with occasional availability on Mondays and Fridays. Availability can vary, so please do get in touch to discuss current options. I aim to respond within 24 hours on business days.
Fees
Sessions are £70 for online therapy and £85 for in-person.
I aim to make therapy as accessible as possible and can sometimes offer flexible payment arrangements. Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss options such as monthly plans or block invoicing.
About me and my therapy practice
I work with people who have spent much of their lives showing up for others. You may be thoughtful, capable and used to carrying responsibility, while feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low in mood or disconnected from yourself. Many of the people I support come to therapy because they are ready to pause, reflect and live in a way that feels more aligned and authentic.
My way of working is calm, relational and collaborative. I offer a confidential, supportive and culturally sensitive therapeutic environment where you can speak openly and feel genuinely heard. I support people experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, burnout, low self-esteem, relationship concerns, and periods of transition or change.
Together, we explore what has shaped you, including past experiences, relationships, and family or cultural influences, and how these continue to affect you today. I support you in developing greater understanding, self-compassion and choice, so that you can move forward with more clarity, balance and confidence.
Practice description
My therapeutic approach is rooted in person-centred and psychodynamic therapy. This means our work is shaped around you, your pace and what feels most important to explore, within a respectful and collaborative therapeutic relationship.
In sessions, we explore patterns that may have developed over time, such as people-pleasing, self-criticism, overthinking or difficulties with boundaries. We look at how past experiences may influence the present, while staying grounded in what you are living with now and what you would like to understand or change.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, low mood or depression, burnout, low self-esteem, relationship and attachment difficulties, as well as grief, loss and major life changes linked to work, identity or other life transitions. I have experience working with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and life stages, with an awareness of how culture, identity and social context can shape our experiences and emotional wellbeing.
Before training as a therapist, I spent over 20 years working in the corporate sector, primarily in HR. This gives me a strong understanding of workplace pressure, responsibility and burnout, and how sustained stress can affect confidence, identity and wellbeing over time.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute online consultation as a first step into therapy. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions, for me to understand what you are looking for, and for us both to get a sense of whether working together feels right.
If we decide to continue, ongoing therapy typically takes place weekly, with 50-minute sessions. The first full session is slightly different from ongoing sessions. We'll go through some practical aspects of working together, including confidentiality, boundaries, and any questions you may have. We'll also begin to explore what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from it. We may touch on your background and any current challenges you are facing, but there is no pressure to share anything you're not ready to. We'll move at a pace that feels manageable for you.
If you would like to learn more or book a consultation, please contact me or visit my website for further information.
