About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Tracy, a qualified person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist. Alongside private practice, I have worked in education as a student counsellor for young adults and as a counsellor for teaching and support staff. With over 20 years’ experience working in education, I understand first-hand the pressures and challenges that can exist within this environment.
I have supported young people and adults with anxiety, low mood, stress and burnout, relationship and family challenges, trauma, identity issues and neurodiversity. This includes individuals who may have traits or a diagnosis of ADHD, autism or AuDHD.
I have experience supporting people navigating complex health diagnoses, either for themselves or when caring for a loved one. Through my counselling work with the Brain Tumour Charity, I have gained valuable insight into the emotional impact of serious illness and the cancer care pathway. I understand the importance of having someone who truly listens and can support you through the complex emotions that may arise.
I have training in bereavement and have experience supporting individuals facing grief, loss and the overwhelming emotions that can surface. This includes traumatic loss and complicated grief following the sudden and unexpected death of a loved one.
I believe that reaching out for support can be one of the hardest steps to take. If you feel ready to take the next step, I’d welcome hearing from you so we can explore whether we could work together.
Practice description
I offer online and telephone counselling to clients throughout the UK, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own home. Sessions are open-ended, giving you the flexibility to continue counselling for as long as it feels helpful.
How I work
I believe the relationship we build together is at the heart of effective therapy. I aim to create a space where you feel supported, understood and able to talk openly. Having had therapy myself, I understand how important it is to feel at ease with your counsellor.
My core training is person-centred, which means I value your perspective and work alongside you to understand how your experiences have shaped you. While my practice is rooted in this approach, I may also draw on practical, solution-focused techniques to support your individual needs. I work with warmth and honesty to build a connection and, where helpful, offer a gentle challenge to support reflection and growth.
My first session
Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and begin building a trusting relationship. I’ll explain what you can expect from me as your counsellor, answer any questions you may have, and talk through how we might work together.
We'll explore what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to achieve from our sessions. Together, we can set some counselling aims, but don't worry if these change as our work develops.
