About me and my therapy practice

Dealing with the fundamental challenges of life can be difficult; work, family, relationships, anxieties, depression and many other issues that can have a detrimental impact on your well-being. Recognising those obstacles and reaching out for therapy is the start of your journey and together we will address those issues.

I will support you along the way to realise the harmony and contentment you so deserve, and the conversations and dialogue we share will become, over the course of our sessions, a narrative of your life. By guiding, but importantly, NOT fixing you or your life; my purpose is to steer you to a place where you can feel at ‘one’ within yourself and your world. Interpreting your experience through language, I will help you to identify the different realities of life, make sense of your experiences, and recognise how your interactions with others impacts not only what you feel, but importantly and significantly, the way you respond.

Within a purpose-built garden lodge that is welcoming, private, and ambient, I will provide a ‘one to one’ experience that will enable you to share your concerns, and my natural humanistic approach, so conducive to effective therapy, will furnish congruency, empathy, and an unconditional positive regard as we explore your emotions, anxieties, fears, uncertainties and challenges. Indeed, even find ‘hope’, that goal of salvation. I also offer an online service

Practice description

I take an eclectic approach, allowing you to guide your own sessions. Yet, at the same time I will identify and challenge your beliefs and behaviours, working through the major facets of your life to enable us to collectively discuss, where appropriate and necessary, the fundamental obstacles that exist within your world.

My approach draws upon a mix of psychodynamic theory, particular childhood experience and how those early life-forming encounters make you the person you are today.

A person-centred platform that will focus directly on you, as a person, and how you feel in the ‘now’. This will also enable us to investigate schematic aspects, and how your interpretation of the world and others can be derived from past encounters. This schematic work will help to identify and recognise how those experiences can result in dysfunctional (maladaptive) coping mechanisms.

And finally, should it be beneficial for you, to consider the options of cathartic and tangible methods that can be utilised away from the immediate counselling environment. This may also include a degree of meditation that I will conduct during the session to help you relax and support your healing process. It is important as your counsellor that I give you not only my time and be ‘there’ for you within our sessions, but to share with you the tools to support you going forward.

My first session

Following your enquiry I will agree a contact time with you to call and make a formal introduction, conduct a brief assessment, and establish how the counselling will work. This also applies to me as your counsellor;  working together is such an important aspect of counselling and the engagement has to be conducive for us both. It is crucial that you feel both safe and confident that I can provide what you need, and our initial engagement will identify the way forward. The first call should take no longer than 20 minutes, and is provided free of charge.
