About me and my therapy practice

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck in familiar patterns, or uncertain about where things are heading. Perhaps something has shifted recently, or you’ve reached a point where you know you don’t want to manage things alone anymore. You may be living with anxiety - a constant sense of worry, restlessness, or feeling on edge - or experiencing depression, where things feel heavy, flat, or harder to face than they used to. These experiences can feel isolating, but they are also deeply human, and they deserve care and understanding.

I offer a calm, supportive space where you can speak openly and be met with care and respect. I work in a person-centred way, which means I place the relationship at the heart of the work and trust in your own capacity for insight and change. I’m not here to give advice or tell you how to live your life, but to sit alongside you, listen carefully, and support you in exploring whatever feels most important to you.

I aim to keep therapy grounded, human, and approachable. While the work can involve sitting with difficult feelings, I believe it’s also important that sessions feel safe and containing, and that there is room to breathe. At times, there may be space for lightness too. Therapy doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time; a little warmth and humour can help us stay connected as we work through challenging things.

Alongside my counselling training, I bring nearly twenty years of experience working in the arts. Through this, I’ve come to understand the particular pressures that can come with creative and working life: uncertainty, high expectations, financial strain, and having a strong sense of identity tied to what you do. These experiences aren’t unique to the arts, but they can quietly shape wellbeing over time and often sit underneath the difficulties people bring to therapy.

Practice description

Sessions are available online, or outdoors in nature around Godalming and the surrounding area. Outdoor therapy can offer a gentle alternative to meeting on screen, with sessions taking place in local green spaces. We may walk at a relaxed pace or sit outdoors, depending on what feels comfortable and accessible for you.

Choosing a therapist is a personal decision, and feeling comfortable really matters. If what you’ve read here resonates, I offer a brief introductory conversation online or by phone - a gentle, no-pressure way for us both to see whether working together feels right.
