About me and my therapy practice
About me
I work from Tynemouth and Durham City Centre. Finding the right counsellor can feel overwhelming! If you’d like to get a feel for how I work, I offer a free introductory video or phone call - no pressure, just a chance to see whether I’m the right fit for you. Click on my website for more info...
Who am I?
I’m Jamie, a Psychotherapeutic counsellor, I help people make sense of what’s happening inside them, especially when the old ways of coping stop working.
I offer a steady, down‑to‑earth space where you don’t have to pretend you’re fine.
Clients often come to me when they’re navigating a wide range of emotional and life challenges, from anxiety, burnout and low mood to grief, identity changes, relationship difficulties, Fertility challenges, Depression, and the impact of long term health conditions.
Many clients come to me when they feel overwhelmed or disconnected, or when something in their life no longer feels manageable. We work at your pace, with curiosity and compassion, finding language for what has felt unsayable.
Practice description
How I Work
I’m an integrative therapist, which means I draw from several approaches (listed in my profile), humanistic, relational, person centred and creatively it simply comes down to what you need. But in simple terms: "I help you figure out your feelings, find your footing in life"!
What to Expect
Our sessions are calm, spacious, and attuned.
The rooms are modern, light, comfortable and highly confidential
You can bring the messy, the uncertain, the painful, the hopeful and all of it is welcome, there is no expectation, you may not know what to bring and that's ok too - we will work through it.
Over time, clients often describe feeling clearer, steadier, and more able to confidently make choices that honour their needs.
My first session
Your first session - Often the most daunting so here is what to expect;
Your first session is a gentle introduction to working together.
We’ll take some time to explore what’s bringing you to counselling and complete an initial assessment so I can better understand your needs.
We may begin to identify your goals, but this can also unfold over time, goals often shift as therapy progresses, and that’s completely normal.
We’ll also go through the therapy contract, privacy policy, confidentiality, and practical details such as contact information.
Think of this session as us laying the foundations, you setting out what you’re carrying, and me setting out how I can support you. It’s the first building block in the work we’ll do together.
Ongoing expectations
Over time, clients often describe feeling clearer, steadier, and more able to confidently make choices that honour their needs.
There is strong evidence that counselling can be deeply beneficial and supportive, but it isn’t a one‑size‑fits‑all process. We’ll regularly check in on how things are feeling for you, reflect on any changes, and make sure the work is genuinely supporting your needs.

See a testimonial;
“I am incredibly grateful for the support I received from Jamie during a very difficult time in my life. She helped guide me through my grief journey with compassion, patience, and genuine understanding. Her professional approach, combined with warmth and care, made me feel safe and supported throughout the process.
She offered a range of practical strategies that helped me cope day to day, and also helped me make important connections between my grief and other areas of trauma in my life. I felt truly heard and understood. I highly recommend Jamie to anyone seeking thoughtful, professional counselling support and I am eternally grateful for her guidance.”
