About me and my therapy practice
I have over a decade of experience, including several years as a psychotherapist in the NHS and I work with people from a broad range of backgrounds, recognising the importance of psychosocial factors. My work is trauma informed and neuroaffirming, rather than viewing conditions, or suspected conditions, through a deficit lens.
Alongside NHS work I see clients privately for once or twice weekly sessions. We can work in an open-ended way or for an agreed short-term period, depending on your needs.
I trained at The Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust, and Birkbeck, University of London.
Practice description
I take a balanced approach between empathetic understanding and thoughtful challenge. I work with adult of all ages, from young adults right the way through the life cycle into older adulthood, and I am familiar a breadth of issues that can arise at different ages and stages. I am also keenly aware of climate anxiety and its global sociopolitical impact.
Specialisms:
Although I work with people with broad ranging difficulties in away that is adaptable and responsive, I have particular experience in working with parents, and parents of children with (or with suspected) neurodevelopmental conditions. Also with mothers during the transition to motherhood, sometimes referred to as ‘matrescence’, and the impact of parenthood on identity and experience.
