About me and my therapy practice
You might have found your way here if you're struggling with low self-confidence, feeling self-critical or overwhelmed in life.
Are you someone who's often really harsh on themselves, doubts their decisions or compares themselves to others? Perhaps the one who others rely on, or the one who holds everything together in work, with family or in relationships? And deep down, there's a sense of feeling disconnected, stuck or believing in some way, you're not doing enough, no matter how hard you try.
I also appreciate that you might not have the words right now to explain how you feel, you just know that you don't feel like yourself, that something is off in some way.
How I can support:
- I offer a judgement-free space for you to talk about whatever you're experiencing, and it will be met with understanding and acceptance.
- I will really listen to you, as you explore what's been happening and what might be holding you back, to support in reconnecting you back to you.
- My role is to offer a space where you can bring all the messiness, nothing needs to be right, it is purely time for you.
My main areas of counselling support include low self-confidence and self-worth, people-pleasing, stress and burnout. I often support people who:
- Feel exhausted from constantly needing to keep going or hold everything together at work, in relationships, or for those around them.
- Feel a strong sense of responsibility for others, often putting other people’s needs before their own.
- Find themselves overthinking, doubting decisions, or not feeling good enough, no matter how much they try.
It can feel daunting to start counselling and there might be worries around this for you. If you have any questions or would like to explore whether counselling with me feels like it might be the next step, you're welcome to get in touch or visit my website for further information.
Practice description
About Me:
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years in a corporate career where I appeared fine on the outside to others, but felt disconnected and self-critical on the inside. I can therefore, appreciate and understand how exhausting and lonely this can feel.
I come to this work as someone who hears how hard it can be to ask for support and who believes deeply in the impact of being truly heard, listened to and accepted.
My qualifications & experience include:
- CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
- CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
- CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP). My training is in Person-Centred therapy, which focuses upon building a trusting relationship to offer a calm, respectful and supportive space for you to explore whatever you're carrying at whatever pace and direction you'd like to take.
I am deeply committed to my ongoing learning and development beyond my current qualifications. I regularly engage in continuing professional development, reflective supervision and additional training to keep my practice informed, ethical and responsive to individuals I support.
I currently see individuals in both private practice and through volunteering with a local charity, where I’ve supported people with a range of life’s challenges and emotional experiences. My ongoing experience continues to remind me of the courage it takes to begin counselling and the real impact that counselling can bring.
My first session
Before starting counselling:
- I offer a free 20-minute introductory call to understand how I can support and give space for any questions you may have.
- There's no obligation to continue into counselling after this. The most important thing is that you find a counsellor who you feel is going to be supportive for you.
What to expect in a first counselling session:
- In a first counselling session, we would talk together to understand what has brought you to counselling and what you are hoping to get from counselling overall.
- We'll also talk about how we might want to work together, including confidentiality, boundaries and any limitations.
- Ahead of our sessions starting, some of this information will also be sent to you beforehand, just in case you prefer to have this ahead of time.
