I’m Brian — a counsellor shaped by life across both Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, carrying with me a sensitivity to how culture, identity, and lived experience shape the way we move through the world. Growing up within different cultural expectations taught me respect, humility, and compassion; living in the UK expanded my openness, emotional awareness, and belief in the importance of understanding ourselves gently.

My path into counselling was shaped by my own relationship with emotional pain. I have known stress, anxiety, depression, and the loneliness of trying to stay strong for others. Losing my father deepened my understanding of grief, the silence that can follow it, and the longing to feel supported without burdening the people we love. These experiences shaped my commitment to becoming the kind of support I once needed: steady, compassionate, open, and human.

I support people through some of the most human experiences: bereavement, grief, loss, trauma, emotional overwhelm, self-esteem difficulties, depression, anxiety, identity and cultural challenges, and the quiet pain of feeling not enough.

About me and my therapy practice

My approach is grounded in deep listening, compassion, and respect for your pace. Transparency, humility, and openness guide me as a counsellor. You will never be rushed, judged, or expected to be anywhere other than where you are. I believe that healing happens through connection — in those moments when two people can be honest, vulnerable, and real together. Counselling, to me, is a rare and precious space where we can grow around our pain, not by erasing it, but by finding hope and determination within it.

Over the years, I have worked closely with individuals facing profound loss, traumatic experiences, and the emotional weight of significant life changes. My experience includes offering emotional and wellbeing support to cancer patients and their families, providing trauma-informed counselling at Survive Abuse Counselling, supporting common mental health struggles through a national charity, and working with grief and bereavement in a hospice setting. These roles have strengthened my belief in therapy that feels safe, steady, and deeply understanding.

In our work together, you can expect a space where your feelings are welcomed, your story is honoured, and your voice matters. Whether you are navigating loss, rebuilding after trauma, struggling with self-worth, or simply feeling lost, I offer a calm and gentle presence to help you find clarity, grounding, and soft places to heal.

I also welcome clients facing challenges such as relationship difficulties, cultural identity, gender identity, inequality, and the emotional impact of societal expectations. Everyone is met with care and acceptance.
