About me and my therapy practice
About Me
Hello, I am an experienced counsellor specialising in addiction and dependency, working with individuals who feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. I understand that addiction is rarely just about substances or behaviours, it is often rooted in emotional pain, trauma, coping strategies, and unmet needs.
Practice description
My approach is integrative, drawing primarily on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and the Person-Centred Approach. This allows me to offer both structure and compassion: helping clients understand their thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and physical responses, while also providing a safe, non-judgemental space where they feel genuinely heard.
I work with a wide range of addictive behaviours, including alcohol, drugs, gambling, compulsive behaviours, and emotional dependency. I also support clients who may not identify as “addicted” but recognise that something in their life feels out of control or damaging.
I believe change happens when clients feel empowered, not fixed. Therapy with me focuses on developing self-awareness, strengthening coping skills, rebuilding self-trust, and creating realistic, sustainable change at a pace that feels right for each individual.
I am based in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, London and Anglesea. Charge £90 an hour
My first session
The first session focuses on getting to know each other and establishing whether I am the right person to support you. We will go through the counselling contract, confidentiality, and discuss how many sessions we feel may be helpful. We will also agree the time and date of future sessions. It is also a space for you to share any hesitations you may have about therapy, as well as what you are hoping to gain from our work together.
