About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor, qualified to work with adults and children. What does working integratively mean? As everyone is unique, I draw upon a variety of therapeutic modalities, tailoring my approach to meet your specific needs, with a person-centred foundation.
Deciding to seek therapy can feel like a daunting experience for many people. You may have experienced something painful in life and feel clear about your current concerns; or perhaps you feel lost, stuck or misunderstood but don’t understand why. You may not know how you feel or what your difficulties are but have a general sense that something doesn’t feel right.
Are you feeling constantly on edge, struggling to relax, sleep or overwhelmed by negative thoughts? Do you find it difficult to say no due to fear of judgement, tendency to please others or need to establish safe boundaries? Are you experiencing guilt, shame and low self-worth?
I have experience in supporting clients through a range of life challenges, including (but not limited to) anxiety, bereavement, trauma, family relationship problems, self-harm, depression and suicidal thoughts.
I can meet you where you are and help you to make sense of your difficulties. Together we will try to understand what feels painful and explore what is meaningful to you so that you can engage with life more fully. Counselling is a chance to reflect on you as a whole and will give you a chance to sit and really explore your emotions, thoughts and behaviours in a confidential setting where you will be met with compassion. My focus is creating a space where you will be listened to without judgment or prejudice, helping us to build a relationship where you are comfortable enough to share. Through your understanding of self, this work can empower you to find your own solutions.
Practice description
As a registered member of BACP, I ensure my training opportunities are up to date and my knowledge is kept current.
I have worked in the NHS in adult mental health acute wards, this has given me experience working with various mental health conditions. My work with the Gloucestershire charity - Let’s Talkwell gives me extensive experience supporting young people aged 9-25 years.
My first session
Prior to our 1st session, I offer a complimentary 15 minute telephone call to cover any questions or concerns and discuss how we will meet and what to expect.
