I offer face-to-face sessions in Skipton, North Yorkshire, as well as online and telephone sessions.
About me and my therapy practice
I provide counselling for adults who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, unsure of themselves, or unsure of their direction in life. You might be struggling with anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, grief, or simply a sense that something isn’t quite right, even if you can’t yet put it into words.
I believe deeply in the power of being truly heard and understood. Many of us spend years carrying things alone or feeling we have to “cope” without support. Therapy can be a place where you don’t have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or have all the answers, just a safe space to speak openly and honestly, reflect, and move forward with your life in a way that suits you best. I see therapy as a collaborative process, built on trust and compassion. Whether you are coming with a clear goal or simply a feeling that you would like something to change, we can work together to explore what matters to you and what might help you move forward
Practice description
My approach is rooted in person-centred therapy, which means I believe that you are the expert on your own life. I aim to provide a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. I work integratively, meaning I draw on different therapeutic ideas where they feel most suitable, always guided by your individual needs rather than a one-size-fits-all model.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation before beginning counselling. This is an opportunity to ask questions, learn a little more about the process, and decide if you feel I will be a good fit to move forward with.
If you decide to proceed, in our first session, I will spend some time explaining the process, how I work, confidentiality and boundaries. We will also explore what brought you to counselling, address any fears or worries you may have, answer any questions and look at potential goals you may want to set. You are in control of how the sessions go; there is no pressure to share everything in the first meeting, and we will work together moving forward at a pace that best suits you.
