About me and my therapy practice
I work psychodynamically, offering a supportive and reflective space where we can explore what may be going on for you, including how past experiences and relationships might be influencing the present. Psychodynamic counselling focuses on understanding emotional patterns, unconscious processes, and ways of relating that can shape how we see ourselves and others.
I place particular importance on the therapeutic relationship, as this can offer valuable insight into how difficulties develop and repeat over time. By paying attention to what emerges between us, therapy can support greater self-awareness, emotional understanding, and the possibility of change.
My way of working is relational, client-led, and paced carefully, allowing space for reflection rather than rushing towards solutions. I aim to provide a contained, thoughtful environment where difficult feelings can be explored safely and with curiosity.
I have extensive experience working with autistic and other neurodivergent young adults, informed by over twenty years of work in South East Asia, as well as experience supporting young adults and individuals around identity, social anxiety, coping with pressure, and life transitions. My practice is inclusive and sensitive to issues of culture, race, gender, sexuality, language, and power, and I am able to work multilingually.
I currently work with LGBTQ+ clients, including non-binary and gender-diverse individuals, and with survivors of sexual violence through my work at Survivors UK. My practice is trauma-informed, ethically grounded, and supported by regular clinical supervision.
Practice description
My way of working is relational, thoughtful, client-led, and trauma-informed. I place particular importance on the therapeutic relationship, as this can offer valuable insight into how difficulties develop and repeat over time. I aim to work at a pace that feels safe and manageable, allowing space for reflection rather than rushing towards solutions.
I work with young adults and individuals, particularly around issues of identity, self-esteem, social anxiety, coping with pressure, and concerns about goals, direction, and expectations, especially during times of transition. I have extensive experience working with autistic and other neurodivergent adults, informed by over twenty years of work with neurodivergent young adults in South East Asia. My approach is autism-affirming and attentive to individual communication styles and needs.
My practice is inclusive and sensitive to issues of culture, race, gender, sexuality, language, and power. I am able to work multilingually and value the role language plays in how people understand themselves and tell their stories. I currently work with LGBTQ+ clients, including non-binary and gender-diverse individuals, and with survivors of sexual violence through my work at Survivors UK.
I offer a 50-minute initial assessment session as an opportunity for us to begin understanding what has brought you to counselling and whether working together feels right for you.
My first session
My first session is a 50-minute initial assessment session. This session offers an opportunity for us to begin exploring what has brought you to counselling and to see whether working together feels like a good fit.
The assessment session is a gentle and collaborative space where you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. We may talk about what you are currently experiencing, what has led you to seek counselling at this time, and what you hope for from therapy. I may also ask some questions to help me understand your situation and consider how best to support you.
There is no obligation to continue beyond the initial session. It is also a chance for you to ask any questions about counselling, my way of working, or practical arrangements such as frequency of sessions.
I work in a trauma-informed and client-led way and aim to go at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
The fee for the initial assessment session is the same as my ongoing session rate, with discounts available for frontline workers, high school, and university students.
If we decide to continue working together, we can think about next steps and what ongoing sessions might look like.
