About me and my therapy practice

I work psychodynamically, offering a supportive and reflective space where we can explore what may be going on for you, including how past experiences and relationships might be influencing the present. Psychodynamic counselling focuses on understanding emotional patterns, unconscious processes, and ways of relating that can shape how we see ourselves and others.

I place particular importance on the therapeutic relationship, as this can offer valuable insight into how difficulties develop and repeat over time. By paying attention to what emerges between us, therapy can support greater self-awareness, emotional understanding, and the possibility of change.

My way of working is relational, client-led, and paced carefully, allowing space for reflection rather than rushing towards solutions. I aim to provide a contained, thoughtful environment where difficult feelings can be explored safely and with curiosity.

I have extensive experience working with autistic and other neurodivergent young adults, informed by over twenty years of work in South East Asia, as well as experience supporting young adults and individuals around identity, social anxiety, coping with pressure, and life transitions. For neurodivergent individuals who may find verbal communication challenging, I can incorporate journal therapy and written reflection as part of our work. This can provide an alternative and less pressured way to process thoughts and emotions, enabling expression at a pace that feels manageable and authentic.

My practice is inclusive and sensitive to issues of culture, race, gender, sexuality, language, and power, and I am able to work multilingually. I currently work with LGBTQ+ clients, including non-binary and gender-diverse individuals, and with survivors of sexual violence through my work at Survivors UK. My practice is trauma-informed, ethically grounded, and supported by regular clinical supervision.

I aim to work at a pace that feels safe and manageable, allowing space for reflection rather than rushing towards solutions.

I work with young adults and individuals, particularly around issues of identity, self-esteem, social anxiety, coping with pressure, and concerns about goals, direction, and expectations, especially during times of transition. I have extensive experience working with autistic and other neurodivergent adults, informed by over twenty years of work with neurodivergent young adults in South East Asia. My approach is autism-affirming and attentive to individual communication styles and needs.

My practice is inclusive and sensitive to issues of culture, race, gender, sexuality, language, and power. I am able to work multilingually and value the role language plays in how people understand themselves and tell their stories. I offer a 50-minute paid initial consultation, either in person or online, as an opportunity for us to explore what has brought you to counselling and consider whether working together feels right. I also offer a free 15-minute online introductory call, which provides space to briefly discuss your needs and ask any initial questions before arranging a full consultation.

My first session

My first session is a 50-minute paid initial assessment, either in person or online. This session provides an opportunity for us to begin exploring what has brought you to counselling and to see whether working together feels like a good fit.

The assessment session is a gentle, collaborative space where you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. We may discuss what you are currently experiencing, what has led you to seek counselling at this time, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I may also ask some questions to help me understand your situation and consider how best to support you.

There is no obligation to continue beyond the initial session. It is also a chance for you to ask any questions about counselling, my way of working, or practical arrangements such as session frequency.

I work in a trauma-informed, client-led way and aim to go at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.

The fee for the initial assessment session is the same as my ongoing session rate, with discounts available for frontline workers, high school, and university students.

For those who would like a brief initial conversation before committing to a full session, I also offer a 15-minute free online introductory call.

If we decide to continue working together, we can discuss next steps and what ongoing sessions might look like.

About me and my therapy practice

I work psychodynamically, creating a supportive and reflective space where we can gently explore what may be happening for you. Together, we can look at how past experiences and relationships might be shaping your present, and how patterns in thoughts, emotions, and connections with others may be influencing how you see yourself and the world around you.

The relationship between us is central to the work we do. By noticing what arises in our interactions, we can gain insight into patterns that may have been repeating in your life and begin to explore new ways of understanding and relating. This can help build self-awareness, emotional understanding, and the possibility for meaningful change.

My approach is relational and client-led. We take things at a pace that feels comfortable, with space to reflect and process rather than rushing towards solutions. I aim to provide a contained, thoughtful environment where difficult feelings can be explored safely and with curiosity.

I have extensive experience supporting autistic and neurodivergent young adults, as well as individuals navigating identity, social anxiety, life transitions, and pressures from work or study. For those who find verbal communication challenging, I can incorporate journaling or written reflection into our work, providing a less pressured way to process thoughts and feelings at a pace that feels manageable and authentic.

I strive to make my practice inclusive and sensitive to culture, race, gender, sexuality, language, and power. I work with LGBTQ+ clients, including non-binary and gender-diverse individuals, and with survivors of sexual violence through my role at Survivors UK. My work is trauma-informed, ethically grounded, and supported by regular clinical supervision, creating a safe space where your experiences are heard and respected.
