About me and my therapy practice

Counselling for anxiety, overthinking and emotional difficulties in Holywell, North Wales.

Do you find yourself replaying conversations, worrying about what might happen, or struggling to switch off even when you’re exhausted? Perhaps you often question yourself, feel overwhelmed by your thoughts, or find that anxiety is affecting your relationships and everyday life.

You might experience unwanted thoughts that feel upsetting or difficult to make sense of. Perhaps you find yourself checking things, seeking reassurance or going over situations in your mind to feel certain that everything is okay, only for the same doubts to return.

You may know that something needs to change without knowing where to begin. You don’t need to have everything worked out before coming to counselling.

I’m Steph, an integrative counsellor at Enestee Mental Wellbeing in Holywell, North Wales. I work with adults, and much of my work involves supporting people who feel caught in anxiety, intrusive thoughts, ongoing worry or overthinking. I also have experience supporting people with depression, trauma, grief and loss, self-harm, stress, relationship difficulties, and challenges relating to food and body image.

Practice description

What working with me can look like

Our sessions begin with what matters to you. That might be something happening now, a feeling you can’t quite explain, or a pattern you keep finding yourself caught in.

Together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, make sense of what you’re going through, and notice patterns in how you respond. Where helpful, we may look at past experiences and relationships to understand how they influence the way you see yourself and relate to others today.

Counselling can also be a space to get to know yourself more fully: what matters to you, what you need, and how you want to live. Perhaps you’ve spent a long time meeting other people’s expectations or feel unsure of who you are beyond the roles you hold. We can explore your values, hopes and sense of identity, giving you room to discover what feels right for you.

We can also explore practical ways to respond to anxious thoughts, manage moments of overwhelm and support yourself between sessions. Our work can help you understand your patterns, recognise your needs and develop more choice in how you respond.

My approach draws on person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural counselling. This means I can adapt our work to your needs, combining space for deeper exploration with practical support where it feels useful.

You won’t be expected to explain everything perfectly or talk about difficult experiences before you feel ready. I value a counselling relationship in which you feel heard, respected and able to be yourself.

My experience includes counselling NHS staff within Occupational Health and working within charitable organisations.

I also offer Rewind Therapy for trauma and can discuss whether this may be appropriate for you.
