About me and my therapy practice
Let’s be frank. Life is hard. Really hard.
And sometimes, it’s harder than others.
When it is, it can be a disorientating and lonely experience. It can be hard to trust that there is a way through.
But there is. I’ve seen it. And I’ve experienced it.
And I’m sat writing this now as I believe I can help you to get past it, and find a new way where life can be a bit less hard once again.

I’m Adam, a BACP registered humanistic counsellor specialising in nature-based therapy for adults suffering from stress, depression and anxiety, or simply just struggling to cope in the face of what life is throwing at them.
Practice description
As a nature-based counsellor I choose to work outdoors wherever possible. So many of the problems I describe above are about disconnection - disconnection from yourself, from loved ones, from your life and its purpose. Nature provides the perfect environment to begin to reconnect, providing a sense of safety and regulation that complements my warm, laid-back style.
For many clients the work quite quickly brings about a reduction in stress and anxiety, an improvement in symptoms of depression, and a newfound clarity around issues that previously seemed impossibly complex. Those working longer term can hope to achieve a more fundamental shift in their relationship to themselves, their feelings and the ways in which they live their lives - lighter, more carefree and more accepting of themselves.
This is achieved mostly through reflective dialogue, but can also involve breathwork, meditation, body-awareness, nature-connection and creative exercises. This can be challenging. And sometimes, I will intentionally challenge you. This might sound scary - but many of my previous clients report that it was in these moments that they were able to make some of their biggest discoveries…
I acknowledge that for any number of reasons, outdoor working is not for everyone and so I also offer sessions from my consulting room in Kings Heath or nationwide online and over the telephone. Outdoor sessions are run from both Highbury Park (Kings Heath) and Clowes Wood (Earlswood).

My first session
I am only too aware of how daunting it can feel when searching for a counsellor or psychotherapist, which is why I offer an initial call of up to 30 minutes rather than just 15 - this can give a little extra space for you to feel if the connection is right before choosing to working together.
During this call, we will explore the difficulties that have brought you to therapy. Then, together, we will establish whether I am the right therapist for you at this time.
