About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Humanistic Counsellor, with a Gestalt-informed approach, offering individual counselling for adults. My work is relational and thoughtful, with an emphasis on understanding how past experiences continue to shape your present.
I aim to offer a steady, reflective space where things can be spoken about at a pace that feels right for you. I'm interested in helping you make sense of what's happening for you, and in noticing patterns that may have developed over time.
I pay attention to what’s happening in the here-and-now, including emotions, bodily responses, and the relationship between us. I’m less concerned with labels or diagnoses, and more interested in how you experience yourself and others.
This is your space to think more deeply about yourself, your relationships, or times when you may be feeling stuck or overwhelmed.
I work in an inclusive, affirming, and anti-oppressive way, welcoming people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, neurotypes, and abilities.
Practice description
What's it like to sit in a room with me?
I am thoughtful, calm and grounded. I work attentively and I am engaged. I don't rush, and we don't always need a solution. I'm conversational and reflective.
What am I interested in?
I'm interested in what matters most to you, how things feel as we talk and what might be happening beneath the surface. I pay attention to patterns, pauses and moments that seem important and will gently bring these into conversation when it feels helpful.
How do I see the work?
I see counselling as a shared human process. I'm present in the room too. You're not expected to do this alone, and at the same time, the work remains yours.
How do I work?
I work collaboratively with you. I'll stay alongside you as we explore what's going on and I'll offer reflection, curiosity and honesty where it feels useful.
What can you expect?
A steady, reflective space where things can be spoken about at a pace that's right for you. I work in an inclusive, affirming and anti-oppressive way and I aim to offer counselling that's respectful, grounding and responsive to you as an individual.
My first session
What's the first step?
I offer an initial consultation as a chance for us to meet, ask questions and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. There is no obligation to continue beyond this.
If we decide to go ahead, the first full session will usually be similar in structure to ongoing sessions. These are your sessions and there is no pressure to share anything you're not ready to talk about. There is no formal assessment or checklist, just space for you to come and talk.
The first session can be a space to begin exploring what's brought you to counselling. It can be a space to talk about your expectations or it can be a space for us to feel how we might work together. There will also be time to go over practical details as well as our working agreement.
