About me and my therapy practice

I offer a warm, compassionate and person-centred approach to counselling. I believe that no two people are the same, so I don’t work from a one size fits all script. Instead, our sessions are shaped around you, your experiences and what feels most important to explore.

The relationship we build together is at the heart of my work. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, heard and respected, without judgement or pressure to have everything figured out. You can bring whatever feels present for you, whether that’s something you’ve been carrying for a long time or something that has happened more recently.

Together, we can begin to make sense of difficult emotions, explore patterns that may no longer be serving you, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your needs. Sometimes counselling is about finding clarity or making changes and at other times, it may be about finding acceptance and learning to live more gently alongside things that cannot be changed.

I believe you already have your own inner wisdom and strengths, even when they may feel difficult to access. My role is not to give you all the answers, but to walk alongside you as you discover what feels right for you.

I bring warmth, patience and genuine curiosity to our sessions, working at a pace that feels manageable and appropriate for you.

Practice description

People come to counselling for many different reasons, and often what brings someone to therapy is a combination of things that have been building over time. You may be struggling with difficult emotions, feeling overwhelmed, or finding yourself at a point in life where things no longer feel as manageable as they once did.

I have experience supporting people with:

* Anxiety

* Depression

* Grief and loss

* Insomnia and difficulties with sleep

* Addiction

* Life transitions, including retirement, job loss, divorce, motherhood and the menopause

Counselling can offer a space to step back from the demands of everyday life and explore what is happening beneath the surface. You don’t need to know exactly what is wrong or have the right words before you begin. Together, we can take time to understand your experiences, emotions and patterns, and explore what you may need to feel more settled, clear or able to move forward.

My work is tailored to the individual rather than following a fixed programme. Some sessions may focus on a particular situation or difficulty, while others may give you space to think aloud and notice patterns or feelings as they emerge.

I offer 55 minute individual counselling sessions from my private therapy room in central Maidenhead, as well as online sessions via Microsoft Teams for those who prefer to work from home or live further afield.

If something here feels familiar, you’re welcome to get in touch. You don’t need to know whether counselling is definitely right for you before making contact.

My first session

Your first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know each other and to talk about what has brought you to counselling.

There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what you want to say or having everything worked out. We can take some time to talk about what you have been experiencing, what you would like support with and what you hope counselling might offer you.

I’ll explain how I work and we can talk through any questions you may have. We’ll also discuss practical matters such as confidentiality, boundaries and how our sessions will work.

From there, we can begin to explore what feels most important to you. There is no fixed agenda or expectation that you need to cover everything in the first session. We’ll work at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable for you.

My individual counselling sessions are 55 minutes long. We can meet either in person at my private therapy room in central Maidenhead or online via Microsoft Teams.

Before arranging your first session, I offer a free 15 minute consultation. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions, share a little about what has brought you to counselling and get a sense of whether we might be a good fit. There is no obligation to continue afterwards.

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, so my aim is to make that first step as comfortable and straightforward as possible.
