About me and my therapy practice
Hello I'm Laura. I want to acknowledge the courage you have shown to seek therapy and in order to support you in finding the right therapist, I want to share more about my approach. I believe that therapy can support people in healing and understanding even our most painful experiences. My aim as your counsellor is to be alongside you as you discover more about yourself and what you need in this journey.
I work in an integrative way using Person Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis. Person Centred Therapy puts you at the heart of what we do using empathy and non-judgement. I will do my best to understand what it is like to be in your shoes and you decide what we talk about each week; all parts of you are welcome in the space. Gestalt Therapy allows us to explore the present moment or past experiences which are affecting you in the here and now. Finally, Transactional Analysis helps us to explore your relationships and patterns of relating with others. I believe by working with each client as a unique person, we can explore what ways of working feel right for you.
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I work ethically and with integrity within the BACP guidelines and ethical framework. All confidential information is stored within GDPR regulations.
I am Irish and have spent the last decade living and working in England.

Practice description
I offer weekly 50 minute sessions, at the same time and day each week. These sessions are face to face from The Practice Rooms in Summertown, Oxford (OX2 7JL). We can arrange a fixed number of sessions or work on an ongoing basis.
My first session
Each session is a dedicated space for you to focus on yourself and what feels important to you; somewhere to feel heard, supported, and understood. Each week, we will discuss what is on your mind, you decide the direction we take and I am alongside you. When we begin our work, we’ll discuss what you want from therapy and explore together what you might need in this process.
