About me and my therapy practice
Who am I?
I usually work with clients who are independent adults who often manage work, relationships, and responsibilities effectively on the surface. Maybe you are often seen by others as reliable and composed, and you may use humour or minimisation when discussing personal difficulties.
I am a person-centred counsellor offering a warm, accepting and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, be yourself, and not have to “have it all figured out”. I work at your pace, valuing trust, authenticity and your lived experience.
What to expect when you contact me.
I will email you with availability for a 15-20 minute phone call. This just gives us a chance to have an informal conversation about what brought you to counselling and what you would like to work on. It's okay if you don't know the answer, we can figure that part out together! Next, you have the choice to arrange sessions with myself, or you can come back later when you feel ready. If you do arrange sessions with me, I will ask if you'd prefer to work in person or online. I am located at The Therapy Suite in Motherwell.
If I sound like someone you'd like to work with, enquire today!
Practice description
You could be experiencing an increasing internal pressure, including anxiety, self-doubt, and emotional overwhelm. You might often find it difficult to reach out for support, feeling that you should be able to cope on your own or avoid burdening others.
My therapy offers a space where you can begin to explore these patterns safely and at your own pace. Over time, you may develop greater ease in recognising and expressing your emotional needs, and begin to relate to yourself and others with more openness and flexibility.
My first session
I offer a free 15-20minute consultation call, you don't need to do this but it does give you a chance to ask myself any questions you may have!
If you choose not to have the call, I'll send over a contract and consolation form for you to fill out and sign.
In the first session, I will use a small questionnaire to help guide us to what issues are key to work on and to mark your progress!
Even though 50 minutes sounds like a long time with someone, the first session always goes fast!
You may begin to tell me in a bit more detail why you are in counselling, you may even just want to rant about your day first and then dive into it. You might be comfortable enough to tell me exactly what has happened to you. Either way, I'll be sitting across from yourself, ready to listen to you.
About 5 or 10 minutes before the session finishes, we will discuss how often you'd like to attend counselling (weekly or every two weeks). We then arrange the next session.
