About me and my therapy practice

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with adults. I offer a thoughtful, confidential space where you can speak openly about whatever is troubling you or feels difficult to make sense of. You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to say or having everything worked out.

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety or depression, difficulties in relationships, bereavement or loss, low self-esteem, questions around identity or sexuality, or simply a sense of feeling stuck or that something in your life is not quite right.

Psychodynamic therapy offers a space to become more curious about your thoughts, feelings and patterns of relating. Together, we can explore how earlier experiences and relationships may continue to influence the way you experience yourself and others. Over time, developing a deeper understanding of these patterns can create greater freedom in how you respond to relationships, difficulties and change.

I have experience working with people from the LGBTQ+ community and welcome clients of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

I hold an MA in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

Practice description

I offer weekly psychodynamic psychotherapy for adults, either face-to-face at The Henry Centre in Westcliff-on-Sea or online.

Sessions take place at the same time each week and provide a regular, consistent space in which we can think together about whatever you bring. You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about; sometimes beginning with whatever is most present in your mind is enough.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy gives particular attention to patterns that can develop over time, including ways of managing difficult feelings and relating to other people. The therapeutic relationship itself can also help us understand some of these patterns as they emerge.

I offer both open-ended and shorter-term therapy, depending on what brings you to therapy and what we agree together. Open-ended work allows the therapy to develop over time, while shorter-term work may focus more closely on a particular difficulty or period in your life. We will think together about the most appropriate way of working and review the therapy as it progresses.

Face-to-face sessions take place in comfortable, private therapy rooms at The Henry Centre, close to Westcliff-on-Sea station.

My first session

We will usually meet for two or three initial sessions to think together about what has brought you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and whether working together feels right.

These sessions are also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work and to ask any questions you may have about therapy. There is no expectation that you need to tell me everything at once; we can begin at a pace that feels manageable.

Payment for the initial assessment sessions is requested in advance. If we decide to continue, we will agree a regular weekly session time and begin the work of therapy together.
