If you are interested in working together sometime in the future when I return from leave, you are welcome to get in touch.
About me and my therapy practice
Welcome. My name is Emily, She/Her, I have mixed heritage having ancestry from the British Isles and from Armenia with roots in Iran and India.
I'm a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor, offering counselling and ecotherapy grounded in a warm, compassionate and somatic approach. I listen with an open heart and hold what you bring to counselling with care, non-judgement and respect.
I work online from the comfort of your home.
I see counselling as a time to pause, breathe and reflect. Coming away from the usual routine for a moment, to be present with yourself, your life, and your relationships. Giving space for what is meaningful to you to emerge and be witnessed, to build clarity, and bring care to what ever life circumstances you may be in.
Maybe you're looking for an empathic listening ear where you can share the tender, strong or difficult emotions which are feeling hard to find your way through? Perhaps you've felt misunderstood or shut-down and are looking for a space to be seen and heard deeply in your experience?
Perhaps you've felt disconnected from your self and you'd like some support in connecting with the wisdom of your heart and body, to access more clarity and inner knowing? Supporting you to feel settled in your self with a sense of agency, empowerment and wholeness?
Maybe you're grieving a sense of belonging, and would like to explore this in a supportive space. Or feeling disconnected with the place around you, curious of ways to connect with the land that are meaningful to you?
Together, we will explore what you are holding and how this is impacting you in your life now. Whether there is something from the past, or something more recent that is feeling hard to handle on your own, the counselling process can help you to gain deeper insights. In turn guiding you to find clarity on how you’d like to navigate what is happening in a way that is rooted in your authentic self.
Practice description
My approach is gentle, patient and inquisitive, giving you time and space to process your experiences. I invite awareness of noticing your nervous system and exploring ways of tending to what would be supportive in the moment. I will be led by you, ensuring you have a choice in what you'd like to focus on in a session, and of the pace.
I'm an integrative counsellor; my work is trauma-informed and rooted in a person-centred approach. I bring in body-based and somatic ways of processing emotions.
The modalities I work in are: Compassion Focused Therapy, Focusing, Emotion Focused Therapy, Therapeutic Creative Expression, Embodied Therapy, Ecosomatics and Ecotherapy.
I welcome clients from all walks of life and have a deep understanding of issues relating to chronic health conditions, menstrual cycle challenges, trauma, being disabled, relationships, highly sensitive persons (HSP) and sensory challenges.
Ecotherapy (In Bristol)
Are you drawn to being outdoors with the support of nature? Do you appreciate moments away from screens, listening to the rustling of trees in the wind, flowing streams or the songs of the birds? My outdoor ecotherapy / ecosomatics sessions combine talk therapy with being in nature. An opportunity to connect with the natural environment through our senses and nervous system, bringing us into our bodies, into the present and in connection with ourselves. From here we can begin to notice our kinship with nature, and the many benefits to our health and wellbeing that come from connecting with the land.
My first session
We can have a free 15 minute introductory call if it would be helpful for you, where you can ask any questions and we can ensure we both feel happy to work together.
When we have arranged to work together, our first session will be 60 minutes, and a chance to share more of what is happening for you.
