About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes life can feel overwhelming and it can be difficult to talk to those around us about how we are really feeling. Counselling can provide a space where you are listened to with empathy, understanding and without judgement.
I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist who works from a person-centred perspective. This means that I believe each person is unique and has the capacity for growth and change when they are offered the right environment of empathy, understanding and acceptance.
My approach is collaborative and tailored to each individual. Being an integrative therapist means that I draw on different therapeutic theories and techniques to suit your needs, rather than using a single fixed method. However, the foundation of my work is person-centred, placing you at the heart of the process and respecting your own experiences, values and pace.
I aim to provide a safe, non-judgemental and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences openly. Together we can work towards gaining greater self-awareness, understanding patterns in your life, and finding ways to move forward that feel right for you.
As part of our work together, I can also support you in developing coping strategies that suit your individual needs, helping you to manage challenges, build resilience and feel more confident in dealing with difficult emotions or situations.
Whether you are facing a specific challenge or simply feel the need to talk, I will work alongside you with compassion and respect, supporting you in making sense of what you are going through and helping you to develop your own strengths and resources.
Practice description
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, and my aim is to make the process as comfortable and supportive as possible.
I offer a warm, confidential and respectful space where you can talk openly about whatever may be troubling you. Together we can explore your experiences, gain a deeper understanding of your thoughts and emotions, and work towards finding ways to move forward that feel right for you.
As part of the counselling process, I can also support you in identifying and developing coping techniques that best suit your needs, helping you to manage challenges, build resilience and feel more confident in dealing with difficult emotions or situations.
I offer online counselling sessions, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
Sessions last 50 minutes and can take place as often as you feel necessary. Some clients prefer weekly sessions, while others may choose a different pace depending on their needs.
Before beginning counselling, I offer a free initial 15-minute telephone consultation. This provides an opportunity for us to briefly discuss what has brought you to therapy, ask any questions you may have, and see whether you feel comfortable working with me.
If you decide to continue, we can then arrange your first full counselling session and begin working together at a pace that feels right for you.
My first session
During our first session we will spend some time getting to know each other and exploring what has brought you to counselling. As part of this, I will carry out a brief initial assessment, which involves gently reviewing how you feel things are going in different areas of your life. This helps us build a clearer understanding of your current situation, the challenges you may be facing, and what you would like to gain from counselling. The first session is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about my approach or counselling in general.
If you are considering counselling and would like to find out more, you are welcome to get in touch. I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation where we can briefly discuss what has brought you to therapy, and you can ask any questions you may have about the counselling process. This can also help you decide whether you feel comfortable working with me before arranging a full session.
