About me and my therapy practice

I am Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, who trained within the NHS and worked within the NHS for many years. I am qualified and experienced in working with children, adolescents and young adults (0-25 years old), parents and providing supervision and consultation to professionals. I provide assessment and therapeutic intervention for a range of common psychological issues including low mood, depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal thoughts, neurodivergence (ASD, ADHD, AUDHD), school refusal and attachment concerns. I offer brief, short and longer term work. I am a recognised provider with WPA.  I am also qualified to assess children and adults for Autism.

I am warm and approachable, and I always work at the pace of the young person. For younger children, a more play based approach, with close observation, talking and listening. Parents are often involved in this work. For adolescents and young adults, the approach is more focussed on close listening, thinking together and talking.

It is very worrying when you see your child struggling in aspects of their life and I understand how important it is to get them access to quick and appropriate support. I always begin with a comprehensive assessment which allows me to identify if child psychotherapy will be a good fit before starting treatment or if other types of support are needed first.

Practice description

I offer child and adolescent psychotherapy within two clinical practices; Leicester Psychology Clinic and Purple House Clinic, Rugby.  Both clinics offer comfortable clinic rooms and friendly and supportive admin teams.  The clinics are both multi-disciplinary (Psychologists, CBT therapists, Occupational Therapists and Educational Psychologists) which allow us to refer clients across if additional or different support is required. Both clinics also offer assessments for Autism, ADHD and specialised cognitive assessments.

My first session

An initial appointment is 60 mins and involves hearing about your concerns as well taking a developmental history and details of family life and school (as appropriate).  Some parents chose to have an initial appointment on their own to allow them to speak in private, others prefer for the child or young person to join.  For adolescents and young adults, some prefer to be seen on their own for the first appointment.
