About me and my therapy practice
I’m a fully-qualified, registered member of the BACP & NCPS accredited psychotherapist based in Nottingham. Experienced in working with addiction, trauma, self-harm, depression and anxiety.
I offer one-to-one therapy for adults, either face to face or online. As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw from a wide range of approaches as I believe no one person or relationship is the same and I wholeheartedly welcome your individuality.
One of the hardest things a person can do when they are in a great deal of emotional pain is to admit to others (and often themselves) that they have a problem and may need professional help; the fact that you are reading this right now means that you are already contemplating making a positive change in how you wish to live the rest of your life.
This is a huge step in facing up to, processing and overcoming whichever personal issues have brought you here today. People who undertake therapy often report significant improvements in the quality of their relationships, increased confidence and a growing ability to live life on life's terms and make positive lasting changes.
If you have any questions, then please feel free to contact me in the strictest confidence, and without obligation.
Practice description
My core training is as an integrative practitioner, meaning I have a background in multiple therapeutic modalities, including humanistic, transactional analysis, CBT, and SFBT. In practice, this means I tailor the therapeutic experience to you, drawing on multiple disciplines to work in a way that suits you and your needs.
I offer both short-term, goal-oriented counselling, and longer-term, open-ended therapy. We'll talk about which approach feels right for you in our first session and revisit this as needed moving forward.
I have extensive experience of working with adults of all ages, experiencing emotional distress related to a myriad of issues. These have included, but are not limited to, trauma, sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, childhood emotional abuse, past domestic abuse, body image and low self-esteem, feelings of overwhelm, suicidal ideation, relationship issues, significant and unexpected circumstance and life changes, grief, and more.
My first session
I have never had therapy before & feel nervous! Can I do anything to prepare myself?
It is ok to be nervous. Sometimes I feel nervous too about meeting my new clients! We will work at a pace that suits you, and will not delve too deeply until you feel ready and able.
Can I have a telephone chat before booking an Initial consultation session?
I would recommend a free 30 minute Teams/Zoom call to all my clients.
How can I book an Initial consultation session?
You can book an Initial consultation session by contacting me at dgfeller@outlook.com
How long will my first session last?
Your Initial consultation session will last 30 minutes and is free of charge. If you decide to continue, all sessions are 50 minutes long.
What happens at the Initial consultation session?
Your Initial consultation session is a chance for you to meet me & talk about what you are looking for help with. This is also a chance for me to explain more about how I can help. The initial session is also used to discuss and agree logistics e.g. how often your sessions will be and other related topics. If you decide to continue with ongoing sessions, you will be asked to fill in a ‘Client detail form’ and send it back by e-mail or bring it along to your next session.
