About me and my therapy practice

Life gives us all challenges and I've had my share them, including experiences with loss, grief, ADHD, substance misuse, depression, and anxiety. These moments have taught me a great deal about resilience, healing, and the importance of being truly heard. They’ve also shaped my ability to sit alongside others in their struggles, offering a caring, non-judgemental space where growth and self-acceptance can begin.

With over 50 years of combined life and work experience, I bring empathy, understanding, and a real-world perspective to my counselling practice.

I’m passionate about helping people find their voice and move towards a stronger sense of self. I currently volunteer as a counsellor with Rochdale Mind.

Outside of my counselling work, I love spending time with friends, whether that’s enjoying a relaxed drink, chatting about life and the latest celebrity gossip, or heading off on a girls’ holiday. I also enjoy travelling and exploring new places, which constantly gives me fresh perspective and inspiration. At home, you’ll often find me cake decorating or unwinding with a good book - from true crime to lifestyle magazines - anything that feeds my curiosity about people and the world around me.

My first session

Starting counselling can feel daunting, especially if you’re unsure where to begin or what to expect.

My aim is to offer you a calm, compassionate space where you can talk openly, at your own pace, without fear of judgement or pressure to have everything figured out.

In our first session, we’ll focus on helping you feel comfortable and heard. There’s no expectation to share anything you’re not ready for. We’ll talk about what’s brought you to counselling, what you’re hoping for, and how we might work together in a way that feels right for you.

I’ll take time to explain how counselling works do the necessary paperwork and answer any questions you may have, so you can decide whether I’m the right therapist for you.

I work in a warm, person-centred way, believing that change happens when you feel accepted, understood, and supported as you are. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, grieving, or simply wanting space to reflect, you don’t have to carry it alone.

Reaching out is a brave first step, and you’ll be met with care, respect, and understanding.
