About me and my therapy practice
As a person-centred counsellor, my aim is to provide a space which feels calm and safe - a space to gently find your footing again and feel held as you move forward and process your thoughts and feelings. I work without judgement of your experiences or emotions, gently supporting you to explore them openly and honestly, in your own time and at your own pace.
I have experience supporting a wide range of difficulties, including but not limited to:
- Anxiety and Depression
- Stress and PTSD
- Bereavement,
- Sexual Abuse / Rape
- Domestic Violence
- Trauma
- Addiction
- Relationship difficulties
- Low self-esteem
- Social Anxiety
- Bipolar Disorder
- BPD
- OCD
- Neurodiversity
I’ve supported people through many different parts of life - in mental health, dementia care, and paediatric neurodevelopment. These experiences have shown me the value of being present, listening deeply, and meeting each person exactly where they are. Being trusted in those moments is something I deeply value, and they continue to shape the way I work today.
My learning has deepened my understanding of what it means to truly be present: to meet people with empathy and hold space for whatever life brings, even in its most fragile moments. During my BA(Hons) in Health and Social Care, I completed a module in bereavement, which strengthened my understanding of supporting both those grieving a loss and individuals facing the end of life. That learning continues to inform my work and the care I bring into the counselling space.
I bring a genuine commitment to the work that I do, offering a warm, comfortable environment where you can share what feels heavy, without pressure or judgement - a calm space to begin finding your way, in your own time. Please feel free to get in touch, and together we can take that first step in discussing how I can support you.
Practice description
I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor, and Co-Founder of Resilient Root Therapy, based in Penwortham, Preston.
I offer sessions both in-person and virtually (via telephone or video). Face-to-face sessions take place in our therapy room, located in a peaceful homely environment, designed to feel at ease. Our therapy room is located in Higher Penwortham, Preston. I offer open-ended sessions, with regular opportunities to review and reflect on how the sessions are helping and progressing.
In addition to private practice, I support individuals through a local domestic abuse charity. This experience has deepened my awareness of the need for care that centres safety, rebuilding self-confidence and self-worth.
Relevant Qualifications:
Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
BA(Hons) Health and Social Care
Alongside my qualifications, I upkeep my professional development by attending relevant training modules and events, including safeguarding, domestic abuse, neurodiversity, and trauma.
My first session
I understand the courage it takes to take that first step, and reach out, and how meaningful it is to feel genuinely heard.
I offer a free 20-minute consultation, via telephone or video to provide an informal opportunity to meet, ask any questions you may have, and explore how I can best support you. If you decide you would like to proceed with booking your first session, I'll gather some details from you, and we will look at some mutually available dates and times.
What to expect from your first session?
We will begin to explore what has led you to counselling and what you would like to gain from sessions. My aim is to meet you where you are, and there is no expectancy to share more than what you feel comfortable to at any time.
