About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Corinna, a BACP-registered integrative counsellor.
At times, life can feel overwhelming, leaving you feeling stuck, disconnected from yourself, or unsure of how to move forward. Reaching out for support can be a difficult step, and finding the right therapist is an important part of that process.
I offer a warm, supportive, and confidential space where you can talk openly about whatever is bringing you to therapy. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, trauma, or the impact of domestic abuse, you will be met with empathy, respect, and without judgement.
I believe therapy offers the opportunity to slow things down, reflect on your experiences, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. Together, we can explore difficult emotions, challenge self-critical thoughts, recognise patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and help you reconnect with what matters to you.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different approaches to suit your individual needs, recognising that no two people are the same. My aim is to provide a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as you navigate life's challenges.
I offer face-to-face counselling from a private therapy room on Yarm High Street, alongside flexible appointment options.
Practice description
I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, trauma, loss, and life transitions.
A particular area of specialism is supporting survivors of domestic abuse. I understand the lasting impact abuse can have on confidence, identity, relationships, trust, and emotional wellbeing. Whether your experiences are recent or historic, therapy can provide a safe space to process what has happened, make sense of its impact, and begin moving forward at your own pace.
Alongside this, I support people who may be struggling with self-doubt, self-criticism, difficult emotions, or feeling disconnected from themselves. Therapy can help you develop greater self-awareness, strengthen self-compassion, and feel more confident in your choices and relationships.
My approach is collaborative and tailored to you. Some clients come to therapy with a clear understanding of what they want to work on, while others simply know that something doesn't feel right. Wherever you are in your journey, we can work together to explore what is happening and identify what you need moving forward.
My first session
I offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute introductory phone call, giving you the opportunity to share a little about what has brought you to therapy, ask questions about me and how I work, and get a sense of whether working together feels right for you. There is no pressure or obligation, just a gentle starting point.
Starting therapy can feel daunting, so the first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and explore what has brought you to therapy. There is no expectation to tell your whole story straight away, and we will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
We'll talk about what is currently happening in your life, what you would like support with, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I'll also explain how I work, answer any questions you may have, and discuss confidentiality and the counselling agreement.
Most importantly, the first session is a chance for you to decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you. A strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective therapy, so it's important that you feel comfortable, safe, and able to be yourself.
Therapy works best when there is consistency and space for trust to develop naturally. Weekly sessions can help build depth and momentum, although this will always be discussed with your individual needs in mind.
Where possible, we can agree a regular day and time each week, allowing your space to be held consistently. If your schedule varies, flexible appointment options can be discussed to find an arrangement that works for you.
