About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m an integrative counsellor, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to find what works for you.

You don’t need fixing. Sometimes we just need a little time and space with someone to sit alongside us while we make sense of things. My aim is to offer you a place where you can understand yourself, explore what is bothering you, and discover what life might feel like when you no longer have to carry everything on your own.

I believe the relationship we build is an important part of therapy, and I will take time to get to know you.

I have worked therapeutically with children and young people in schools for many years and with adults in private practice. I also enjoy working with young adults through changes such as leaving home, starting university or employment, relationships, or wondering what direction they want their life to take.

Neurodiversity is a specialism within my practice, particularly ADHD and autism. I work with adults exploring ADHD or who have received a diagnosis later in life, as well as young people and their families. I have experience supporting children and young people in school settings and parents who are trying to understand their child’s needs and find the right support at home and within education.

I recognise that being neurodivergent can affect people in very different ways. Often, the challenge is not who you are, but trying to manage expectations, environments and relationships that don’t always work with you or fit your needs.

Sometimes it is enough to have a little time, a safe space and someone neutral and trustworthy alongside you. We can start there.

Before we begin I offer a free 30-minute telephone conversation before booking your first session. It’s an opportunity to talk briefly about what you’re looking for, ask any questions and get a sense of whether I might be the right counsellor for you. There’s no obligation to continue, and sometimes that first conversation is enough to help you decide what feels right.

Practice description

After many years of working therapeutically within employment, I have chosen to focus more fully on my private practice. I offer counselling from a dedicated space attached to my home, providing a comfortable, confidential and relaxed environment away from the formality of traditional clinical settings.

I offer a flexible approach, adapting the way we work to suit your needs and circumstances. Sessions are available in person, online or by telephone, with no minimum or maximum number of sessions. We can regularly review what feels right for you, whether you are looking for short-term support or longer-term counselling.

My first session

Our first session is an opportunity to begin getting to know one another and to settle into the space. We will spend some time going through our counselling agreement, so you know what to expect and we can agree together how we will work. If you would like to, we can talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you might hope to get from therapy, but there is no pressure to talk about anything you are not ready to share. We can take our time, allowing you to get a feel for the space, for me, and for what counselling together might be like.
