About me and my therapy practice

I am a psychodynamically informed therapist working with adults in Pakistan and with the Pakistani diaspora. My practice is grounded in the belief that our present struggles are often shaped by early relationships, unspoken loyalties, and roles we learned to inhabit long before we had language for them. Together, we slow things down to understand not just what is happening in your life, but why it feels so charged, repetitive, or difficult to shift.

I pay careful attention to the emotional patterns that emerge between us in the room. I see the therapeutic relationship as a living space where long standing dynamics can be noticed, understood, and gradually transformed. My aim is to offer an analytic holding environment that feels steady, thoughtful, and real.

Many of the people I work with are high functioning on the outside yet carry deep self doubt, anger, or exhaustion within. Some are navigating the weight of being the responsible one in their family. Others are grappling with perfectionism, identity conflicts, migration, intergenerational expectations, or the pressure to constantly strive. I also work with parents who want to break cycles of harshness or emotional absence, but find themselves pulled back into familiar reactions under stress.

Working within Pakistani and diaspora contexts means I hold cultural, religious, and family systems with care. I understand the complexities of collectivist values, honour, financial responsibility, and the tension between autonomy and belonging. Therapy with me is not about pathologising culture, but about helping you find your own voice within it.

My stance is warm, curious, and collaborative. I will not rush you, offer quick fixes, or impose ready made interpretations. Instead, I will think with you. Over time, this thoughtful attention can create space for greater self compassion, clearer boundaries, and more conscious choices in how you live and relate.

Practice description

My sessions are typically held weekly at a consistent time. I offer both in person and online therapy. The regularity and reliability of sessions are important, as they create the stability needed for deeper work. At the start, we will spend time understanding what brings you to therapy and what you hope might shift. We will also explore your history, significant relationships, and any previous experiences of support or therapy.

My therapeutic stance is warm, attentive, and engaged. I will listen carefully and may offer reflections, links, or interpretations when it feels useful. At times, I may gently challenge you, particularly if I notice patterns that seem to be repeating in the room. The pace is collaborative. There is no pressure to disclose more than you are ready to, and silences are welcome as part of the thinking process.

Some clients attend therapy for a defined period focused on a particular issue. Others choose longer term open ended work, especially when the aim is deeper structural change rather than short term symptom relief. We can review progress periodically and think together about what feels right for you.

It is important to say that therapy can sometimes feel uncomfortable. As we begin to look at long standing defences or painful memories, there may be moments of vulnerability or uncertainty. My role is to help contain and think about these experiences with you, rather than leaving you alone with them. Over time, many clients report a greater capacity to tolerate complex feelings without becoming overwhelmed or shutting down.

Ultimately, my hope is that therapy offers you a space where you do not have to perform, achieve, or hold everything together. A space where your anger, grief, longing, ambition, tenderness, and contradictions can all be explored. Through this sustained attention, it becomes possible to develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself, clearer boundaries in relationships, and a stronger sense of agency in your life.
