About me and my therapy practice
I work in a person-centred way, which means I see you as the expert of your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you with empathy, honesty, and compassion as you explore what feels important to you.
I aim to offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you feel truly heard, understood, and accepted. I understand that taking the first step into counselling can feel daunting, especially if you are used to coping on your own. When you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts and emotions openly, meaningful change can begin.
I work with a wide range of experiences, including anxiety, depression, bereavement, life transitions, low self-esteem, panic, PTSD, addiction, and OCD. I also have particular experience supporting neurodiverse individuals and understand the importance of adapting therapy to meet different communication and sensory needs.
I am passionate about supporting people who feel ready for change. Counselling is not only for when you have reached breaking point — it can also be a space for those who feel unsettled, stuck, or aware that something needs to shift
Practice description
I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and co-founder of Resilient Root Therapy, based in Penwortham, Preston.
I hold a Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and continue to develop my practice through ongoing professional training. This includes CPD in areas such as domestic abuse awareness, suicide prevention, and wider mental health and neurodiversity.
Alongside my private practice, I work with a local charity supporting individuals who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse. This has deepened my understanding of trauma-informed practice, and the importance of safety, empowerment, and rebuilding self-worth.
I also bring over 15 years of experience working within the education system, supporting children and families. This has given me a strong understanding of emotional development, relationships, and family dynamics.
I offer face-to-face sessions in Higher Penwortham from a warm, welcoming, and non-clinical home setting. My aim is to create a safe and comfortable space where you can feel at ease. I also offer video and telephone sessions, helping to make counselling more accessible and flexible to suit individual needs.
I am committed to ongoing learning and reflective practice to ensure I provide ethical, safe, and effective counselling
My first session
I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, so I aim to make the process as comfortable and supportive as possible.
Before booking, I offer a free 20-minute consultation. This gives you the opportunity to share a little about what you’re looking for, ask any questions, and get a sense of how I work. There is no obligation to continue — it’s simply a chance to see if we feel like a good fit.
In our first full session, we will gently explore what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it. There is no pressure to share everything straight away; we will move at a pace that feels right for you.
My focus is on creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and supported as you begin your counselling journey.
I'm here, feel free to reach out whenever you're ready.
