About me and my therapy practice
What if your anxiety isn’t weakness; but a signal that you are living as a fragment of yourself?
Do you ever feel unreal; as if you’re watching your life rather than living it?
Perhaps you function well on the outside, but inside there’s a quiet sense of dislocation. You may have survived trauma, emotional neglect, or relationships where your reality was questioned or dismissed. Over time, this can leave you feeling unanchored; competent yet unseen, strong yet strangely alone.
I am a BACP-registered psychotherapist specialising in trauma, dissociation and identity fragmentation. I am a depth psychotherapist and trauma specialist, registered with the BACP, and founder of Parts Integration Therapy; a model developed across three decades of psychological study, investigative journalism, spiritual inquiry and lived recovery from severe childhood trauma.
Many of the people I work with appear outwardly capable yet privately feel split: as though they are living as only a fraction of themselves. My clinical focus is the long-term impact of developmental trauma, coercive dynamics, relational stress, and the ways identity narrows into survival roles.
Before retraining as a psychotherapist, I spent over 25 years as a Fleet Street journalist, contributing to The Sunday Times. My work brought me into direct contact with extreme human behaviour, including interviews with violent offenders and caged serial killers in the USA and UK. I have studied fragmentation not only clinically; but socially, culturally and personally.
I work with adults, children and teenagers who appear capable; but carry a deep, often private disorientation. Together, we gently restore a sense of solidity; helping you trust your perception, inhabit your body, and reclaim your voice without losing your depth.
My work centres on what I call the fractured self; the experience of living as only a sliver of who you once were. Trauma, chronic stress, or subtle relational injuries can narrow us into survival identities.
Practice description
Most of us do not survive our lives intact. We fracture. We split. We exile parts of ourselves in order to endure what was unbearable: abuse, neglect, humiliation, terror, abandonment. The mind is brilliant at survival. It creates protectors. Masks. Achievers. Pleasers. Seducers. Analysts. Watchers.
And then we mistake the protector for the whole. We build careers from these fragments.
We choose lovers from these fragments. We chase fame, status, security, salvation: from these fragments. We search for our missing parts in other people and call it love.
My life’s work has been the excavation and integration of those buried parts; not only intellectually, but somatically, psychologically and spiritually. Parts Integration Therapy is a depth-based, trauma-informed model designed to restore coherence to the fragmented self.
What I Specialise In:
• Complex trauma and developmental trauma for adults, couples, teenagers and children.
• Identity fragmentation and dissociation for all ages.
• Chronic anxiety, depression and panic for all ages.
• Relationship repetition patterns
• Shame and self-sabotage for all ages.
• Spiritual crisis and existential destabilisation
• Survivors of abuse for all ages.
• Individuals who feel “high functioning but hollow”
• Those for whom conventional therapy has not reached the core and still suffer anxiety and depression.
I bring extensive experience counselling children and adolescents within school systems, and have undertaken voluntary literacy work within the prison system, deepening my understanding of trauma and violence at its roots.
Many clients come to me after years of therapy that addressed symptoms but not origin.
My first session
The first session is not an introduction. It is an opening. We do not spend weeks describing symptoms. We go directly to the fault-line; the place where you first learned to survive by becoming smaller. If you have been living as a sliver of yourself; high-functioning, anxious, exhausted, depressed; we will name that split. There is often a moment in the first hour where something clicks into place. What felt like vague depression or relentless anxiety reveals itself as grief for a self that has been lost for many years; sometimes since childhood.
Clients describe ‘one session’ as cold water after years of fog.
Or as if a hidden door has been found in a room, they believed had no exit.
This work is not about coping better. It is about restoring what was stolen.
The initial session is active and diagnostic.
I map your psychological structure: key developmental moments, relational imprints, identity adaptations and current protector strategies. Together we identify where fragmentation occurred and whether you are ready for deeper integration work.
There is no pressure to descend prematurely. Safety, consent and nervous system regulation come first.
If we proceed, the work unfolds in stages; stabilisation, access, emotional release, integration and consolidation.
This is not therapy as endless discussion.
It is therapy as structured reclamation.
I believe much of humanity lives in a subtle state of dissociation; functioning, achieving, surviving, yet cut off from vital parts of self.
When individuals integrate, relational systems change. When relational systems change, culture shifts.
Parts Integration Therapy is my contribution to that wider transformation.
It is not rebellion for drama’s sake. It is a conscious movement toward wholeness.
