About me and my therapy practice

I work with adults to help you navigate life’s challenges and feel more confident, balanced, and resilient. You can meet me online or come to my rural retreat, close to Lake Windermere in the Lake District. My approach combines traditional talking therapy with the calming influence of nature, so you can feel grounded and supported as we work together.

Each session is tailored to you. I encourage reflection, connection with your surroundings, and practical strategies to help you feel more in control and confident. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression and low mood, grief, relationship difficulties, stress, or just want to understand yourself better, my goal is to give you a safe space where you feel heard, understood, and supported.

Practice description

I work with adults in a calm, rural retreat, high on a Lake District fell, close to Lake Windermere. With expansive views, natural scenery, and gentle wildlife all around, it’s a place to step away from the busyness of daily life. The peaceful, private environment allows you to slow down, feel grounded, and gain perspective as we work together, helping you to focus fully on your thoughts, feelings, and well-being.

My main approach is Transactional Analysis (TA), a relational, humanistic way of understanding how our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are shaped by past experiences and patterns in relationships. TA helps you see where old habits, beliefs, or ways of relating may be holding you back and supports you in making meaningful, positive changes. I also work from foundations in Ecological TA, which looks at you as a whole person within your environment, helping you explore how the spaces you live and spend time in influence your mental and emotional health.

My training in Integrative Psychotherapies means I can draw on a variety of approaches to suit your individual needs. This includes mindfulness to help you stay present, grounding techniques to feel more settled in your body, and practical tools to cope with stress, low mood, anxiety, or grief.

My own background and interest in supporting a healthy body and mind, together with my connection to the natural environment, informs the way I work. I work with adults from all walks of life, embracing cultural diversity and valuing your unique experience. Therapy is collaborative and client-led: we explore patterns, past experiences, and challenges that may be holding you back, set achievable goals together, and review progress regularly.

You can sit and talk in the therapy room or we can walk in the surrounding countryside if that feels helpful. My aim is to provide a warm, safe, and supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to take positive steps toward your well-being, resilience, and growth.

My first session

I offer all potential new clients a free 30-minute online Google Meets video call to start. This is a relaxed chance to talk about what you’re hoping for from therapy, ask questions, and see if we would be a good fit. Before we meet, I send a brief questionnaire by email to understand your background and what you want to work on.

Each session is usually 1 hour, with weekly sessions for 4–6 weeks recommended to begin, reviewed regularly to suit your needs. Many clients choose to work online or indoors, but still benefit from the peaceful surroundings and ethos of my rural Lake District practice.

Outdoor sessions usually start after the first few weeks, with an outdoor agreement made together. My approach is collaborative and client-led, drawing on Transactional Analysis, Ecological TA, Integrative Psychotherapies, mindfulness, and grounding tools to support your growth, insight, and well-being.
