About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Shelly. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and I provide online and face to face short-term and long-term Counselling

I work in a Humanistic and Integrative way drawing upon different approaches to meet your needs as a unique individual whilst always following your lead. I will sit alongside you, listen to whatever is on your mind, your thoughts, feelings, worries, stories, anxieties and offer empathy and understanding without judgement.

Together we can explore your reasons for counselling, in a safe, confidential space. I believe the key to counselling is to build a trusting relationship together. I have experience of working with bereavement, loss, anxiety, relationship issues, low self-esteem, confidence, stress, anger, loneliness, sadness.

I offer a compassionate, warm, non-judgmental and confidential space for you to openly talk about whatever is worrying you. Anything you wish to bring is welcome, however painful, difficult or stressful it might feel to you. To be truly heard by another can be deeply comforting and by talking together, we can create a place to explore, reflect upon and understand more fully what you are experiencing and why feel as you do at your own pace.

When we feel sad, low or anxious, asking for help can feel quite daunting and life can seem difficult at times. Perhaps its hard to put into words what is troubling you? It maybe you are experiencing feelings of not being able to cope or losing touch with your feelings completely. It might also be that you want to explore a painful aspect of your past and how it’s affected you. If you are reading this, you have taken the first step.

Practice description

I work online and also can offer face to face sessions in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

My first session

I offer a 30 minute introductory session which is free of charge, this enables us to meet each other and decide if there is a fit.  Its very important that you feel you could work with me and that I feel I may be able to help you.

Should we agree to proceed, we will then arrange our session time each week. This time will be reserved for you, for the duration of our time together. Each session is 50 minutes and will start and end on time. I will send you a short agreement to read before we have our first session.

During our first full session together, we will discuss our ways of working, I will fully explain confidentiality, boundaries and answer any questions you may have. I will then take some details from you, some history and background, and we will start our time together.
