About me and my therapy practice
Therapist, psychologist, university lecturer, teacher.
Take that first step and reach out to me whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, ADHD, OCD or other worries. We’ll explore your needs and see if we’re a good fit.
I am a qualified BACP therapist, and currently completing a doctorate in Counselling Psychology. I am also a university lecturer in psychology, teaching undergraduates and postgraduates on a range of modules including psychological disorders, psychology, nutrition, and health psychophysiology. Furthermore, I am a qualified educational mental health practitioner. During my time as a therapist, I have worked with clients who have suffered with anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, autism, stress, burnout, and bereavement. I have worked with clients who have been in the music industry, the financial world, lawyers, teachers, students (11-18), scientists, civil servants, engineers, and retail and sales workers. Therefore, the totality of my experience has enabled me to help young people, as well as adults of all ages. I am also a qualified teacher, and work part-time as a head of department in psychology and sociology.
Practice description
I offer a supportive environment where the sessions are shaped by your needs. No concern is too small or too large, whatever you want to bring to the sessions is entirely up to you. I will deploy a range of approaches in our sessions drawn from person centred therapy, CBT and other modalities to ensure you are helped in a way that best suits you as an individual.
My first session
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and is different to subsequent sessions in that we get an opportunity to judge if the counselling relationship works for both of us. The first session will allow me to gather key information about your concerns and worries, as well as find out where your strengths are both personally but also in terms of your relationships with friends and family. By the end of the first session we will both have a clearer picture as to whether we should continue these sessions further.
