I offer online sessions on weekend mornings, making it more accessible and suited to individuals who are not able to have sessions during week days. As I am balancing my private practice with my doctorate, my availability is limited to a very small number of clients seen fortnightly. Although I will try to be flexible whenever possible, any client should consider these limitations prior to us starting therapeutic work.
About me and my therapy practice
I believe having a safe space to express yourself fully is crucial in the path of growth. Although I can offer this space for anyone who needs it, I tend to work more in a directive approach where sessions follow a structured treatment. The session plans are very collaborative and you of course always have a choice on whether to follow planned structure or not. I more experienced in providing support using the following evidence-based approaches:
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) – Working on how your thoughts and actions that may be contributing to your difficulties, and looking at ways to change this to improve your well-being.
Compassion-focused therapy (CFT) – Developing skills to regulate emotions and help build a positive relationship with yourself.
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) – Reducing the impact of difficult emotions by becoming more mentally flexible and learning to take actions for a more fulfilling life.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) – Communicating with the different parts of ourselves to address internal conflicts and difficult past experiences.
Maastricht Interview for Hearing Voices – This is not a therapeutic approach but a tool to help individuals who hear voices to better understand their experiences and help change relationship with them. This would be used with one of the approaches listed above (such as compassion-focused therapy).
I have also received basic training and experience in other approaches so I can integrate elements of them into my practice, including DBT life-skills, psychodynamic, person-centred, motivational interviewing, and transactional analysis.
