About me and my therapy practice
Reaching out for therapy can feel difficult, especially when you're not quite sure where to start or how to put what you're feeling into words. You don't need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy.
I offer a calm and supportive space where you can slow things down, make sense of what you're feeling and begin to reconnect with yourself at your own pace. My approach is gentle and collaborative. I pay attention not only to what is being said, but also to what may be harder to express or sitting underneath the surface.
Together, we can explore the patterns, emotions and experiences that may be affecting how you feel, how you see yourself and how you relate to others. This might include experiences from the past, difficulties you're facing now or feelings that you don't yet fully understand.
Therapy isn't about telling you what to do or expecting you to change before you're ready. It's about creating a space where you can begin to understand yourself with greater compassion, feel more grounded and find ways forward that feel right for you.
Most importantly, I adapt the way I work to you because every person's experiences, needs and story are different.
Practice description
Hi, I'm Neeta. I'm an Integrative Counsellor and Therapist with over 15 years' experience working within mental health.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and challenging periods of change. I also have experience supporting people who have experienced trauma, sexual violence, abuse and coercive or controlling relationships as well as those struggling with addictive behaviours.
Sometimes people come to therapy knowing exactly what they want help with. Others simply know that something doesn't feel right, they feel overwhelmed or they keep finding themselves caught in the same patterns. You don't need to know exactly what the problem is before we begin.
As an integrative therapist, I draw on different approaches including Psychodynamic, Person-centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This allows us to explore both what may be happening underneath the surface and what might help you in the here and now.
My wider experience in mental health has given me an understanding of how past experiences, relationships and difficult life events can continue to influence how we feel, relate to others and see ourselves. We can explore these experiences without rushing the process or expecting you to talk about anything before you feel ready.
I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy depending on what you need and what we agree together.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute consultation before booking your first session. This gives us an opportunity to talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy, what you're hoping for and any questions you may have. It's also a chance for you to get a sense of me and how I work before deciding whether you would like to continue.
If we decide to work together, our first full session is an opportunity for me to understand more about you and what has been happening in your life. There is no pressure to tell me everything at once. We will work at a pace that feels manageable for you and begin to think together about what you would like from therapy.
