About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Emily, an integrative counsellor and coach offering support to young people (11+) and adults.
I provide a warm, supportive, and collaborative space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences at a pace that feels manageable for them. My approach is grounded in authenticity and compassion, while also gently encouraging reflection, self-awareness, and meaningful change.
I understand that reaching out for support can feel difficult, particularly if you feel misunderstood, overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted. My aim is to offer a space where clients feel heard without judgement and supported in making sense of their experiences.
I am particularly passionate about supporting clients navigating neurodiversity, identity, masking, overwhelm, self-worth, and life transitions. As someone who is neurodiverse myself, I understand the importance of feeling accepted, understood, and able to work in ways that genuinely fit the individual rather than forcing them into perceived expectations. Alongside my counselling work, I also provide neurodiversity awareness training.
I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate, am fully insured, and work within professional ethical frameworks with regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.
Practice description
I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches and adapt my work to the individual rather than believing there is a “one size fits all” approach to therapy. I believe therapy should feel personal, flexible, and responsive to your needs, creating a therapeutic journey that is unique to you.
Some clients may benefit from open reflective conversation, while others may find more structured approaches, psychoeducation, creative reflection, or practical coping strategies helpful. Together, we can explore what works best for you.
I work relationally and value building a safe therapeutic relationship where clients feel able to be themselves without pressure to perform, mask, or “have everything figured out.”
My practice is grounded in collaboration, curiosity, and compassion. I recognise that everyone’s experiences, coping strategies, and ways of processing the world are different, and I aim to offer support in a way that feels responsive rather than prescriptive.
I offer in-person sessions for young people aged 11+ and both in-person and online sessions for adults.
My first session
I understand that considering counselling may feel daunting, particularly attending a first session, so I aim to create a calm, welcoming, and supportive environment from the outset. We can initially meet online free of charge or face-to-face for a small fee, depending on what feels most comfortable for you.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to explore what has brought you to counselling, what support you may be looking for, and whether we feel like the right fit for working together. There is no pressure to share everything immediately, and we will work at a pace that feels manageable for you. I view the first session as a gentle “getting to know you” space.
This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about how I work, discuss practicalities such as confidentiality and contracting, and explore what ongoing support may look like.
I may ask some gentle questions about your background, current difficulties, support systems, and any goals or hopes you may have for therapy.
Some clients arrive knowing exactly what they want to talk about, while others may feel unsure where to begin. Both are completely welcome. We simply begin wherever you are.
