About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome. Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, and it’s completely understandable if you’re feeling unsure about where to begin.
I offer a warm, genuine and non-judgemental place where you can talk openly about whatever is going on for you. I work in a person-centred way, which means I won’t analyse or direct you, but instead work alongside you, listening carefully and supporting you at a pace that feels right for you.
You don’t need to come with anything prepared, and there’s no right or wrong way to use the space. We can take things gently, in a way that feels manageable.
I believe that having someone independent of family and friends to talk to can be really helpful. My aim is to build a trusting connection where you feel safe enough to be yourself. From there, we can begin to make sense of your thoughts and feelings together, helping you to understand yourself more deeply and find your own way forward.
Practice description
I offer one-to-one counselling for adults, either face to face in Newport on the Isle of Wight or online via video call.
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place at a regular time each week. Sessions are £60 per session.
You might be coming with something specific, such as loss or grief, anxiety, relationship or work difficulties, or a life transition. Or it may be a more general sense that something doesn’t feel quite right. Whatever brings you, we can explore it together.
My background includes working as a bereavement counsellor at my local hospice, where I have supported clients through a wide range of experiences and emotions.
My first session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know each other and to gently explore what has brought you to counselling.
There is no formal assessment, and you don’t need to come prepared. You are welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable, and we will move at a pace that feels right for you.
It’s completely okay to feel unsure at the start, and there is no obligation to continue after the first session. This is a space for you to get a sense of whether working together feels right.
Before we begin, I will ask you to complete a short form and agreement so you know what to expect from our work together, including confidentiality and practical arrangements.
