About me and my therapy practice
I am a registered and accredited Integrative Psychotherapist (master’s level). Accreditation means I have an enhanced level of training and standards evidenced within the new SCoPEd framework, Column C.
I offer face-to-face psychotherapy for adults and older teenagers in a welcoming, private therapy room. I provide a safe and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.
Together, we focus on:
• Building practical coping strategies
• Understanding patterns in relationships
• Exploring attachment styles
• Managing anxiety, stress and low mood
• Increasing self-awareness and emotional resilience
• Supporting personal growth and lasting change
Using evidence-based therapy models and the Stages of Change framework, I help you gain insight into the function of your thoughts and behaviours. Sessions may involve talking therapy alongside accessible therapeutic resources to deepen understanding and encourage empowerment. My aim is for you to leave therapy with a holistic understanding of yourself, your relationships and your world — equipped with tools to maintain positive, sustainable change.
I have worked in education since the late 1980s and spent 10 years as an Early Years Behaviour Consultant for Derby City Council. I qualified as a psychotherapist over 14 years ago. I have experience working in both the charity sector and private practice, supporting a diverse range of clients across age, gender, sexuality, culture, economic background and faith.
If you are considering private therapy, counselling for anxiety or depression, relationship difficulties, attachment issues, or personal development, I invite you to get started. You are welcome to text or email to arrange a brief, no-obligation phone consultation before booking your first session.
This is your space. Your time. Your therapy.
Practice description
Integrative Therapy combines three therapeutic approaches to create a tailored, flexible way of working that meets your individual needs. In my practice, I draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Attachment Theory with a Person-Centred approach.
CBT helps us explore the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. We look at how these patterns developed over time, including early core beliefs and “rules for living” such as “I must…”, “I have to…”, “If I don’t, then…”. By understanding how these beliefs influence your current experiences, you can begin to challenge unhelpful patterns and develop healthier ways of responding.
Alongside this, we explore your attachment style — how early relationships and experiences with key adults shaped your sense of safety, trust and self-worth. Attachment work helps uncover how these early dynamics may still influence your relationships today, including how you relate to yourself and others.
The Person-Centred approach places you at the heart of the therapy. I provide a safe, confidential and boundaried space that is warm, non-judgmental and empathic. You are supported to speak openly and honestly, at your own pace, knowing you will be met with respect and understanding.
By integrating these approaches, therapy offers both practical tools and deeper insight — helping you build self-awareness, strengthen relationships and create meaningful, lasting change.
My first session
Before your first session, you will receive a copy of the Therapy Contract by email. This outlines the agreed boundaries of our work together, including confidentiality and safeguarding. We will go through this document at the start of your initial session to ensure everything is clear and to answer any questions you may have. Often, this conversation naturally leads us into the therapeutic process.
In the first session, you are invited to share what has brought you to therapy, but only if you feel ready to do so. If speaking about this immediately feels difficult, I can offer a gentle exercise to help you begin exploring your thoughts and feelings in a way that feels manageable and safe.
We will also begin to consider your goals and expectations for therapy, allowing these to emerge organically through discussion. Each session is reviewed and reflected upon to help guide the direction of our work together.
I aim to create a space where your voice is truly heard, respected and valued, supporting you to feel safe, empowered and understood from the very beginning.
