About me and my therapy practice
Are you someone who identifies as emotionally intense, sensitive, or imaginative, but struggling to work through certain emotions and behaviours? Perhaps you've experienced a trauma that has kept you in a cycle you don't want to be in. My way of working aims to cut right to the heart of difficulty by experiencing emotions deeply in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Together we’ll identify areas of shadow and difficulty to allow you to find new strengths and work through knots. If you feel like you are have a sensitive temperament but have been running into walls around making changes, I may be a good fit for you.
My approach draws on Person-Centred and Jungian principles, alongside Internal Family Systems (IFS). I use parts work and shadow work to help clients reconnect with aspects of themselves that may feel lost or distant, and that could be contributing to present difficulties. Client work with me is deep & explorative, honouring the complexity of psyche without getting swallowed in it. It's easier to get stuck in the mud or feel lost in the mist when you have a sensitive temperament. Together, we'll try to find fresh air.
Practice description
We'll often use metaphor, imagery, and symbolism to explore your experience and discover strengths, uncover healing, and find new ways forward. At the heart of my practice is supporting your body (through a somatic lens) to process difficult emotions safely and gently, helping you feel more grounded and present in the here and now. Some metaphors that can describe counselling/psychotherapy with me include:
- Getting our hands in the mud and feeling the grit for gold.
- Identifying poisons and finding antidotes.
- Moving into a wound and letting water wash over it.
- Getting to know your inner round table.
I have extensive experience working with neurodiversity (ADHD/Autism) and executive functioning difficulties. My background is in anti-discriminatory (anti-racist, LGBTQ+/Queer allied and disability positive) practice and training which I remain committed to as part of all client work.
My first session
I offer a 20 minute consultation appointment at reduced fee (£15), which will come off the price of a first session if you decide to continue.
If you opt to begin with a full appointment, during this time we will usually explore if you have undertaken any previous counselling and what you might be looking for from the space. Please get in touch to find out more details about initial intake.
