About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Katharine, a qualified Counsellor and Occupational Therapist and I can offer a warm, supportive, and confidential space for you to explore whatever may be troubling you.
Life can feel difficult at times, and you may be facing challenges that are difficult to navigate alone. My aim is to provide a calm, non-judgemental environment where you feel heard, understood, and supported. Together, we can begin to make sense of your experiences and help you move forward in a way that feels right for you.
Alongside my private practice, I bring over 18 years of experience working within NHS mental health services, supporting adults across a broad range of mental health conditions.
I work with individuals supporting a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties. My approach is compassionate and collaborative, with your wellbeing always at the centre of our work.
Practice description
I offer an integrative approach to counselling, meaning I draw from a range of therapeutic models and tailor the work to your individual needs.
I believe therapy should feel safe, supportive, and free from judgement. Our sessions provide space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Together, we can gently explore patterns, gain insight, and develop greater self-understanding.
My role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you—helping you find clarity, resilience, and a deeper connection to yourself.
I offer online sessions via a secure video platform, giving you the flexibility to access counselling wherever you are or from the comfort of your own home.
My first session
Starting therapy can feel like a big step and so I offer a free 20 minute telephone or online consultation prior to starting our sessions together. This is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work and whether you feel comfortable with me. We can then decide together how best to move forward, including the pace and focus of our work
In our first session, we will explore what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it.
I work in an integrative way, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to suit your individual needs.
My experience within NHS mental health services has involved working with a wide range of presentations, including complex emotional difficulties, psychosis, depression and anxiety. This has shaped a grounded, compassionate and adaptable approach to therapy.
I believe that each person’s experience is unique, so our work together will be shaped around you. I offer a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.
My role is to walk alongside you, helping you gain insight, develop self-awareness, and find ways of coping that feel right for you.
I support clients with a range of issues, including:
