About me and my therapy practice

I am a person-centred counsellor offering a warm, empathetic and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings safely and at their own pace. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship, built on trust and respect, is central to effective counselling.

My approach is grounded in active listening, compassion, and a genuine curiosity about each client’s unique experience. I aim to create an environment where you feel heard, understood, and supported to make sense of your experiences without fear of judgement.

I have a particular interest in working with women’s emotional wellbeing, especially in relation to relationship challenges and life transitions. This includes supporting those affected by coercive control, narcissistic abuse, divorce, menopause, and single parenting. I also have an interest in cultural identity and the complexities of balancing different cultural expectations, including within intercultural relationships.

In addition, I work with children and young people, including those who are neurodiverse, adapting my approach to meet individual needs.

While I have particular interests in these areas, I welcome clients of all genders and backgrounds. I will work alongside you to support greater self-awareness, emotional understanding, and meaningful change.

Practice description

I offer a calm, confidential and supportive space where you can talk openly about whatever is on your mind. I understand that starting counselling can feel daunting, and I aim to provide a welcoming and reassuring environment from the very first session.

In our work together, you can expect to be listened to with care, respect, and without judgement. I will not tell you what to do, but will support you in exploring your thoughts and feelings, helping you to gain clarity and a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences.

Sessions are led at your pace, focusing on what feels most important to you. I may gently reflect back what I hear or offer observations to support your awareness, but the space remains centred on your needs.

I work in a way that is sensitive to individual backgrounds, including cultural experiences, family dynamics, and personal values. I am particularly mindful of how identity, relationships, and life transitions can impact emotional wellbeing.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, feeling overwhelmed, or simply need a space to talk, I will work alongside you to support positive change and emotional wellbeing

My first session

I offer an initial free 15-minute telephone or online consultation, providing an opportunity for you to share what has brought you to counselling and what you are hoping to gain from the process. This also allows us to see whether we feel like a good fit to work together, with no obligation to continue.

If you decide to proceed, we would arrange a full counselling session, which is charged at my usual session rate. During this first session, we will complete an initial assessment, where I will gently gather some background information to help me understand your experiences and what you would like support with.

I aim to make this process feel as comfortable and collaborative as possible, allowing you to share at your own pace.

I often suggest working in blocks of six sessions, as this can provide a helpful structure and continuity. However, I also recognise that each individual’s needs are different, and I offer flexibility for clients who prefer to work in a more open-ended way
