About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming for many reasons. It can be a relationship breakdown or a bereavement for example or it can be trying to make sense of life in general.

Counselling offers you the oppourtunity to speak without fear of judgement, to be heard and listened to and to work through the feelings and emotions that accompany those challenges.

I am an integrative counsellor which means I use different types of therapy tailored to each individual as every person and their view of their own situation is unique.

Practice description

I believe that each person can get through life's most difficult challenges when they feel listened to with empathy, understanding and without judgement.

I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor having trained with the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) achieving a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) which means I work within a strict Ethical Framework to ensure that the needs of the client are always at the forefront of the work that I do.

I have experience of working with clients who have faced a varied range of challenges including:

Anxiety, Low Self Worth and Low Self Esteem

Depression

Bereavement and Grief

Recovery from Addiction (Alcoholism and Drug abuse)

Childhood Trauma

Chronic Illness

Relationship issues, abusive partners

and much more.

Having been in recovery for 10 years I have personal experience of how challenging recovery can be to achieve but also to maintain. Emotional sobriety is essential for a fulfilled and happy life and this can take many years of personal changes and growth in all aspects of your life.

I believe counselling is vital in this process as it helps to understand the reasons and triggers behind the addiction and that helped me to realise that alcohol was just a symptom of many underlying issues. Until I resolved those issues, I would not be able to maintain recovery and more importantly, lead a happy, sober life.

I also have personal experience of long term health conditions, including chronic fatigue and rheumatoid arthritis so

I can understand how difficult at times it can be adjusting to a new way of living.

My first session

Initially, I offer a free 20 minute online or telephone consultation so you are able to see if we can work together.  It is important that you feel that I am the right person for you as it is a very personal journey.

If you decide to continue with me, we can then formulate our sessions to concentrate on the most pressing challenges you face at a pace that is comfortable for you.
