About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Zsófi, and I’m here to offer a warm, unconditionally accepting space in which you feel safe to start this exploratory journey that is counselling. I am curious and ready to be surprised and be led by you in whichever direction feels to be the most important to be brought into the room. I believe that every counselling process is different, and it is the uniqueness of the counselling relationship that can provide a soil for the process of change.
I am a person-centred counsellor, which is a humanistic approach to psychotherapy that puts you in the centre, through the counsellor’s trust in you and your personal power. The way counselling works is that, ideally, the co-created counselling relationship becomes one in which you feel safe to be yourself and explore whatever it is that feels to you would be the best direction to go (because you are the expert of your own experiences).
My job as the counsellor is to fully trust you in this process, to unconditionally accept you as a whole, to empathically understand you, and to remain genuine, without any facades, throughout. This safe environment in which you can talk about anything should help you in the process of becoming your authentic self.
Whatever it is that brought you here, feel free to get in touch with me to see whether what I offer fits what you need. Testing the waters is completely fine before you make a decision, which is why I offer a free initial video call online of 20 minutes, where you can ask any questions you may have and see whether I am the right counsellor for you.
Practice description
Once you reach out, we can agree on a time for an initial introduction call. This is a 20-minute video call online where you can see if I am the right counsellor for you and ask any questions you may have, which can be anything you need to know or understand so that you're confident in your decision to start counselling with me. Ideally, we agree on a regular time for our subsequent counselling sessions and book our first proper session.
Then, I send you an e-mail with the Counselling Agreement and GDPR privacy policy (you can find these at the bottom of my website), along with an information sheet for you to fill out. These are necessary to cover the legal ground of counselling.
Once these are done, all that is left is the start of the counselling process itself. Counselling sessions are more difficult to describe as they're incredibly unique. Luckily so, as allowing this uniqueness to unfold is what I believe to be at the core of a meaningful counselling process.
My first session
I offer a free initial video call where you can ask any questions you may have about me and my practice. This call serves the purpose of giving you an opportunity to test the waters and to make sure that you're comfortable with starting counselling with me.
