About me and my therapy practice
I’m Karen, a qualified integrative counsellor which means that I work flexibly, with a person-centred approach that blends different therapeutic styles with the aim to address the emotional, social, cultural, behavioural and spiritual needs of each individual. You are at the heart of the work that we do together. I work in a non-directive and non-judgemental way.
Sessions are available online. I welcome individuals from all backgrounds - adults, teens and young people who are seeking both short-term and/or long-term therapeutic support.
Research shows that the relationship between a counsellor and client is an important indicator for a positive and beneficial outcome from the therapy sessions.
My approach is rooted in the belief that every person has the inner strength to heal and grow. I provide a safe, confidential space and in our sessions, you will have the dedicated time and space to explore your thoughts and feelings. We will work together to gain new perspectives, identify unhelpful patterns and develop practical strategies that you can carry into your daily life.
I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and positive change, and my purpose is to support you on that unique journey. Life brings many challenges and getting the right support can really help when things are reaching a point of overwhelm, disconnection or just feeling plain stuck and complicated. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, trauma, grief or the overwhelm of daily life, my goal is to help you find your own path toward a calmer, more fulfilling future.
To help you find the right counsellor, I offer a free 15-min discovery call. The purpose of this call is so that you can ask any questions you may have prior to booking an assessment and initial consultation with me. If you haven’t seen a counsellor before, or if you are not sure if counselling is right for you at this time, this might be a good place for you to begin.
Practice description
Online counselling is carried out via secure and encrypted web platforms. With online counselling you'll need a private space to have the conversation.
Sometimes people choose online appointments because it’s easier to access a service which fits with your lifestyle or working hours better. It also means you are not restricted to finding a therapist who is based in your local area.
If you have any queries or questions, please contact me on 07775 594268 (Whatsapp or text) or email info@balancedwellbeingtherapy.co.uk.
Thank you
My first session
The first online appointment is a consultation to discover more about you and what is bringing you to counselling at this time. We will discuss your background (family, relationships, work and health).
It is an opportunity for us to talk about any current challenges or difficulties you are experiencing and how counselling may support you.
We also discuss and explore the suitability of working online and consider any potential benefits and disadvantages .
This session forms an important part of the process to ensure my continued commitment to working professionally and ethically as a qualified Counsellor and Member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Every counsellor is as unique as every client so this session offers you a chance to experience how working in a session with me might feel for you.
