About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am Rachel Evans, a BACP registered integrative counsellor based in Essex.
I believe therapy should feel like a safe space to breathe. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 37 years as a nurse—an experience that gave me a deep understanding of how physical and mental health intertwine, especially when it comes to health anxiety.
My nursing background sets me apart, allowing me to offer unique insight and compassion to those struggling with health-related worries. I am trained in person-centred therapy and attachment-based psychotherapy . I am committed to providing a supportive, non-judgmental space for my clients in Buckhurst Hill, Loughton, and across Essex face to face , and more widely online .
Person-centred therapy is an approach that puts you at the heart of the therapeutic process. Rather than me directing our sessions or telling you what to do, I create a supportive environment where you can explore your feelings at your own pace. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to provide warmth, genuine understanding, and acceptance without judgement. This approach helps you develop greater self-awareness and find your own solutions.
I work with a wide range of concerns including anxiety (particularly health anxiety), depression, stress, relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, low self-esteem, life transitions, mental health challenges , anxieties around family issues and work-related stress, including burnout . My integrative approach means I can draw on different therapeutic techniques to suit your individual needs. If you're unsure whether I can help with your particular situation, please get in touch for an initial chat.
