About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Vidushi, a person-centred psychotherapist. I believe therapy is for anyone who wants to understand themselves better. This could be your experiences, feelings, thoughts, relationships - any parts of what make you you. Some people come to therapy to unpack something difficult they may be going through, while others come questioning why they behave or feel the way they do. Often our experiences are also connected to the outside world in complicated ways. I believe in the importance of thinking about experiences within the broader systems that hurt us or help us in the world.

The world can feel overwhelming, painful, and uncaring at times. I want to offer warmth, acceptance, and honesty. Hopefully our work together can be a space to slow down and reflect. We all deserve space to figure out what we really want, beyond pressures and expectations, to work out who we want to be, and how we want to move through the world.

Practice description

I work in a person-centred, humanistic practice. I respect each person's autonomy and inner wisdom to know what is best for them. I want to understand your world alongside you, move at your pace, and support you in finding your answers. I am keen to work together to see what you feel you need, how you would like us to structure (or not structure) our sessions, and what I can do to make things as suited to you as possible.

I have worked with people from many different backgrounds, including people who are LGBTQ+, survivors of abuse, and people from ethnic/racial minorities in the UK. I identify as a queer woman of colour, and my lived experiences of these identities inform my practice too.

My first session

I offer a free 20 minute introductory call for us to get to know each other and see if we want to work together. You are welcome to ask me any questions you might have at this point. If we agree to start sessions together, the first part of the first session will typically be us going over a counselling agreement that outlines expectations from each other. I will also take down some information, such as an emergency contact for you. The space is then yours to share (or not) what you'd like!

Sessions including and following the first one will be 55 minutes long, and cost £55 each. However, I do offer concessionary rates and I am keen to make therapy accessible for more people! If this rate is not sustainable for you, I am happy to talk about what would work better for you.
